This cruelty-free Zebra British Flag Rug ($875) is new at Jonathan Adler, and kind of cracking me up. I've always loved the Union Jack, and even though I'm a Yankee, I think its geometric design would make a wonderful addition to my home. I'm also pretty much over the zebra rug trend, so I think this is a playful alternative.

Hawley McLean Haleblian, whose home earned an Honorable Mention in the Met Home of the Year Awards, has re-envisioned last year's zebra trend, employing a technique that makes it much more permanent.
Instead of cautiously experimenting with a zebra print pillow, Hawley went all out. She tore out an 18-square-foot section of tile, and then drew in the outline of a zebra hide.

The zebra trend is pretty played out at this point, especially when you're talking about genuine animal-hide rugs. But, now there are plenty of zebra print rugs that are actually hooked, and don't endanger any poor zebras. I love the Liora Manne Ravella Rug ($119-$1,349), which has a sort of charcoal-color zebra print.

While I do think the zebra trend is pretty played out at this point, and I'm certainly not keen on animal hide rugs, I find myself pleasantly surprised by the Horchow Sunflower Zebra Chair ($2,199). Not only does the winged accent chair look super comfortable and have great lines, but it's incredibly cheerful in its sunny zebra pattern. And you know how I love nailhead trim.

This Upper Playground Zebra Pillow ($40) puts a new twist on the old equine with stripes trend by using zebras as both the background and the foreground of this pillow. Are you a fan?

While I've shown you plenty of zebra print home items, I've never shown you one as crave worthy as this Palacek Camel Back Zebra Print Chair ($1,250). Made of high-quality zebra faux fur upholstery, the chair is built upon a black-wood, camel-shape frame. I love the refined lines of this chair, and the upholstery, while commonly seen on floors all over chic homes in the past year, is less commonly found on a formal sitting-room chair.

If you're still feeling the zebra trend, but have yet to pick up on it, perhaps the Modern Dose Cowhide Zebra Rug ($475, from $575) is for you. It's certainly stylish, and its stripes will add a nice graphic quality to your home. But, this rug is more of a statement than a comfort piece; if you're going for a cozy lounge look, I'd try a Flokati or a shag rug instead.

Flipping through my blog feed, the apartment of a contestant in AT:LA's Small Cool 2008 contest caught my eye. Yes, it was small, and cool, but that's not why it grabbed my attention. I recognized the zebra print stools in the contestant's living room from a previous Steal of the Day of mine.
