The Umbra U+ Collection Balloona Stool ($200) might be a clown's dream furniture, but just because you can wrap a stool in deflated balloons, doesn't mean you should. On the other hand, it's got that contemporary art thing going, and has a very unexpected look. What do you think?

Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S. has announced that it will pull the plug on its struggling shelter magazine, Home, due to "sharp declines in the 'mid-market home sector'," according to the Wall Street Journal. Home will join the ranks of fellow folded shelter titles, Conde Nast's House & Garden and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia's Blueprint.

If my job is any indication, I'm not exactly a numbers person. But, paint-by-numbers? That's another story.

These sleek 1950s-style refrigerators from Smeg would look right at home in the updated diner kitchen I wrote about a few weeks ago. And since I love retro kitchen appliances, I'm thrilled that the fridges from this Italian manufacturer are now available stateside.
Available in 10 colors, the Smeg 1950s Style Refrigerator ($1,999) is fully equipped with modern amenities, despite its back-in-time look.

If you're moving across country, probably the most eco-friendly way to handle the move is to sell your things on Craigslist, and then buy furnishings in your new town off of Craigslist or at thrift and antique stores once you've settled. If you're just moving across town, there's no reason to get rid of your stuff. But the earth-friendly answer isn't to rent a U-Haul, either.

If you have a love for midcentury architecture and $2.7 million to spare, then consider moving to California's Central Valley to live in the beautiful, wonderfully maintained Fawcett House. This 3,700-square-foot home was designed by the famous modern architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1955, and it was completed in 1961, two years after Wright died. The six-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath home is situated on 80 acres, and hunkers down into the farming landscape, with a low-pitched roof and angular wings that reach out into the fields.

On a recent trip, I was delighted to pass through Terminal 3 at the San Francisco Airport, where the exhibit Out of This World! The 20th-Century Space Invasion of American Pop Culture showcased sci-fi awesomeness, including comic books, toys, and other early 20th-century artifacts. If you're in the San Francisco Airport in the next month and a half, head down to Terminal 3's North Connect Gallery to check it out for yourself.

Hi CasaSugar,
I've been a longtime reader of CasaSugar because I love all things related to home. Unfortunately, I live in Manhattan, which means that unless you can afford a multi-million dollar pad, you're stuck with minimal space and awkward layouts.
I was wondering if you could help me locate something — I'm looking for a bookshelf that fits into a corner (that is also not too small like the ones at Target).

Interested in getting the lowdown about green architecture? Then I suggest you read the Newsweek article, "The Bad News About Green Architecture." For a good while now, the reporting of green architecture practices has been nothing less than greenwashed, and I've been waiting for a mainstream publication to address our country's problem with its perception and definition of "green" architecture.
