This Just In: Tom Brady Drops Major Cash on Empty Lot

It seems as if Tom Brady isn't shy about taking real-estate risks. Since he sold his Boston condo way back in February (at a loss), he's ready to move on to other high-priced real estate dealings. This time, Brady is heading west to California.

The quarterback, who's equally well known as Gisele Bundchen's boyfriend, has bought a three-acre lot in Brentwood, just down the street from California governator Arnold Schwarzenegger. How much money did Brady spend on his lot? According to TMZ, over $11 million.

Given the tough real-estate market in California, where foreclosure rates have jumped a staggering 261 percent, this is a gutsy move. Since the mansion Brady will build on the property will run into the tens of millions at least, this is a substantial investment. Apparently, Brady took out a mortgage of $8.225 million, which he will pay back over five years. According to an anonymous source, the California move was predicated on Brady's desire to move closer to his child, though this claim is refuted by a source connected with the child's mother, Bridget Moynahan. Ah, the gossip-heavy world of celebrity real estate! I'm not a big fan of the he-said-she-said scuttlebutt, but I am certainly envious of anyone who can pay off an $8 million mortgage in five years!

On the Market: Gisele Bündchen Relists in the Village

As I've mentioned before, the soft real-estate market seems to be affecting nearly everyone, even the wildly wealthy and the fabulously famous. Tom Brady unloaded his manse for a loss in February, and his girlfriend Gisele Bündchen seems to be following his lead. She has again dropped the price on her West Village apartment, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath condo was originally listed in September for $10.9 million, and was reduced in price several times, and then removed from the market in the Spring. It's now relisted for $5.9 million, a little over half of the originally asking price.

The apartment definitely has killer views, and its spacious 1,700 square feet is divided over three floors, which are connected by a spiral staircase. Other amenities include a gorgeous wraparound terrace, perfect for Summer entertaining, a roof deck with Jacuzzi, and a pergola and professional-grade barbecue. While it seems as if Bündchen may lose some cash on this sale (if and when it ever happens), it's important to keep in mind that the supermodel paid less than $3 million for the pad six years ago. I'm not sure if she's put many upgrades into the space, but given her schedule, it's understandable if she doesn't have room for home improvements.

This Just In: Tom Brady Likes to Lose

In light of Sunday's Super Bowl results, I'd have to say that Tom Brady is making a habit of losing these days. In addition to his team's Sunday loss, Brady has unloaded his 3,412-square-foot, three bedroom, three-and-a-half bath Boston condo for $5,285,000, according to Real Estalker. Property records show that he paid $4,125,000 for the 10 room condo four years ago, so I guess he's gained a million or so. The property's real estate listing calls the Burrage Mansion the "Back Bay's crowning jewel," so you might say the quarterback king has been dethroned.

The residence features "gorgeous museum quality lobby, elevator access to elegant foyer, [a] fabulous kitchen opening to [a] fireplaced family room, separate dining room, [and a] fireplaced living room," in addition to a "beautiful master bedroom suite with marble bath and custom closets."
