This Terra Cotta Lion ($449.99) is an interpretation of a 17th century Indonesian design, and can be used both inside and out. It definitely would create an unexpected element in a room, but I can't imagine looking at this guy when I first open my eyes in the morning, can you?

For the next round of this challenge, I'd like you to look at this Museum Replica of a Masosaur ($7,500). It was built in the 1970s in the US and dequisitioned from San Francisco's Academy of Science. It's the identical model of a masosaur in New York's Natural History Museum, and both are cast from the only intact skeleton ever found. How could you fit this six-foot-long statue into your home? There's something so sweet about this early 19th century Spanish Colonial Cage Santo ($7500). It features the original boat shaped cage base, inset glass eyes, articulated arms that are jointed at the shoulders and elbow, tiny hair eyelashes, and a silver crown, and stands almost two feet tall.

Casa Craving Challenge: Crave Worthy Statuary

This week I confessed that I've given in to statuary in my garden. A lot of you also admitted to loving the look of a little gnome or gazing ball in your azaleas, so for this week's Casa Craving Challenge, I figured I'd ask you to round up your favorite garden statuary. I'd like you to hunt down and bookmark garden statues, gazing balls, twinkly lights, and ornaments that you'd love to have in your veggie patch. Casa Query: Do You Put Statuary in Your Garden?

I used to swear up and down that I would never put cute little statues of gnomes or other imaginary creatures in my garden beds. It just seemed too kitschy to me. But then, after only one season of gardening, I gave in. There was a plastic dinosaur in my strawberry patch, a buddha head in my rose bushes, and this adorable wooden koi fish in my vegetables. So what happened? Well, no one can accuse my garden design of being spare and modern. I guess in the end, I'm just a sucker for cute imaginary creatures. Oh well.

Get the Look: Eddie Ross's Bloomingdale's Window Display

Bloomingdale's is hosting a design contest between three interior designers in the windows of its flagship store in NYC, and one of them happens to be my friend Eddie Ross, who is representing Elle Decor. I'm absolutely in love with the space he created. The concept was designed for a media mogul and mother of two, who has a passion for antiques and art - very Lipstick Jungle . While the space is somewhat formal, it has a playful irreverence, with a mixture of bold patterns and shots of bright color, that make it joyful, not stuffy, and bursting with personality. In other words, I want to move right into it! Eddie and his talented sidekick Jaithan Kochar were kind enough to share their resources with me, so that you can all get the look in your homes! As it turns out, the furnishings are really accessible, which might just be the best thing about it. To learn how to re-create this room, read more.

First off, the base of the room is this magnificent blue spatter paint wallpaper that lends a truly artistic element to it. The navy-on-white wallpaper is called Spatter, by Hinson & Co. He's painted the trim in Benjamin Moore Aura Fiji AF-525 paint. The moldings give it a really old-world look that's a perfect balance to the contemporary colors and patterns in the room.

The pair of ikat pillows on the sofa were made with Ikat II Multiblues on Tint fabric from Quadrille. Scoop up a leopard print pillow at Target ($25)! The deep pink pashmina is from Pashmina International ($35). I love how it adds another layer of color and a bit of texture with the fringe, and pashminas are so easy to find!

The bust is the 16" Apollo Statue ($25) from Plastercraft. Eddie has one of these in his own home!

Holiday Decorating With Reindeer

Even if you're a little weary of deer motifs, there's no better time to pull out the reindeer décor than the Winter holidays.

The great thing about using deer décor is that you can easily rearrange pieces you already have to create a holiday-ready effect. Drape a Ghost Antler Coat Rack with tinsel, or arrange deer statues on a pretty doily, surrounded by silver ornaments.
