"Mind Shut Down," a giant skull made by Indian artist Subodh Gupta, is pictured here at the Frieze art fair in London in mid-October. The materials used to make the skull are all from one room in the house. Can you name the room?

Although I've covered blingy skulls before, I had to share these handcrafted bejeweled skulls by artist Amy Sarkasian with you. I love the colorful baubles affixed to the skull's surface. Are you a fan?

I've been into the skull trend for a year now, but ever since I saw this AT:NY house tour, my love for three-dimensional skulls was solidified. I'm not a fan of Hot Topic-esque skull motifs or patterns, but realistic shapes, like Dan Akroyd's Crystal Head vodka or this shimmery Z Gallerie Metallic Skull ($24.95) have me head over heels.

This very realistic, glazed, ivory porcelain skull ($439) was designed by Bavarian sculptor Franz Ignaz Günther in 1756, well before skulls were cool. It is still produced today by the same Munich-based porcelain manufacturer, Nymphenburg. Given that it was designed as more of a sacred figure than a trendy home accessory, does it appeal to you?

The Skullrilla Ashtray ($25) by David Weeks takes a bite out of smoking habits. It's also got a primal and trendy skull quality, if you're looking for that sort of thing. Although this ashtray isn't quite my style, it's a dude-worthy gift for a smoker.

Skulls might be coming back from the dead for the next couple days since it's time to celebrate Día de los Muertos, but they're also having a comeback in the underworld of home interiors. Everything from doormats and rugs to candles, lamps, and chandeliers have been morbidly stamped with or shaped like a skull. I think a touch of ghoulish humor chez toi is sexy, dangerous, and definitely a must.

The skull trend may be wearing out its welcome a bit, but it's still totally appropriate for this spooky season. To go all out, decorate with the Mirrored Skull ($2,800) from Esque Design, crafted from clear glass with a silver interior. This skull is hand sculpted, and is a signed limited edition of 50.
