While there are a few magazine titles that I've taken the time to organize and archive over the years (Domino is definitely among them), the majority get passed on to a friend or recycled. I really like to keep clutter to a minimum in my home, and magazines on my coffee table seem to be a magnet for additional detritus. What's the story in your home?

This Saturday and Sunday, Sunset magazine is hosting its thirteenth annual Celebration Weekend at its headquarters in Menlo Park, CA. The magazine's editors have invited experts from the food, wine, gardening, and home and design worlds for a fabulous lineup of seminars, exhibits, tastings, and demonstrations. In addition to a 2500-square-foot Glam Camping Compound, one of the coolest parts of the event is "Secondhand Sunset," where Sunset's editors have cleaned out the prop closets and are selling home and garden treasures which have appeared in the magazine to you!

Elle Decor's June 2010 issue, on newsstands May 24, is devoted to the cozy Martha's Vineyard home of none other than the sophisticated Meg Ryan. With the help of Bedford, NY, interior design firm Satinwood, the actress renovated and decorated the large, cedar-shingled home, transforming it into a relaxing beachside escape. A long-time design enthusiast, Meg says, "I feel like I've been renovating houses my whole life.

Ever since Hachette Filipacchi Media's modern shelter magazine Metropolitan Home folded in November, I've been wondering when the publishing house's decorating site PointClickHome would bite the dust, too. The website was meant to be a portal for the readers of both Elle Decor and Metropolitan Home, who are like-minded in their enthusiasm for decorating. Since Elle Decor is now the only shelter title in HFMUS's stable of magazines, it was only a matter of time before it took on a more predictable URL.

Architectural Digest's April cover boy is none other Bounty Hunter star Gerard Butler. In the new issue, on newsstands April 6, the actor opens up his 3,300-square-foot Manhattan loft, designed by production designer Elvis Restaino, which sits on the sixth and seventh floors of a converted manufacturing warehouse in Chelsea.
According to AD, the loft boasts, "13-foot-tall mahogany doors; a ceiling and wall frescos; plaster walls chipped and mottled with age; massive columns supporting limestone lions; crystal chandeliers casting spidery shadows," and plenty of furnishings from New York décor mecca ABC Carpet & Home.

NorCal-based shelter magazine California Home + Design has always been a fave of mine, and not simply because I live in San Francisco. The magazine showcases gorgeous homes that even non-West Coasters will be inspired by. So I was psyched to hear that the glossy has launched a new online component, chdresource.com, an interactive directory of design services, vendors, and retail shops.

The biggest headline in the interior design industry this year came early when at the end of January Conde Nast's beloved decorating glossy Domino folded. Founded by Deborah Needleman as a "guide to living with style," the magazine resonated with busy, style-conscious young women looking for new and unique ways to decorate their homes. But despite the crowds of readers, the publisher reported that Domino's ad revenues couldn't keep up with its expenses in the down economy.

The December issue of Lonny magazine is hot off the web presses today and online for viewing.
Lonny is in the running in my Best of 2009 poll for Favorite Shelter Magazine, so if you haven't already, go vote for Lonny or another mag that you love. I adored the first issue of the magazine, which was launched this Fall by former Domino editor Michelle Adams.

Here's a post from OnSugar blog FotoFlat:
I've had to get rid of a lot of crap since the epic downsizing of our living room began, and I have learned to let go of the back issues of magazines. Except for my Dominos and Blueprints. Never let go, Jack!
