I've always loved the feminine shape of French settee sofas, but they rarely look comfortable. Crave Worthy: Thonet Bentwood Settee

I can't resist bentwood furniture, a style pioneered by German manufacturer Michael Thonet in the 1800s, even in its more modern interpretations. Try as I might, I never cease to be surprised swept off my feet by the timeless creations. Bentwood café chairs seem to be ubiquitous these days, and I never tire of them, but it is refreshing to see bentwood in another shape, such as the Thonet Bentwood Settee ($1494). The design is a licensed reproduction of an original Thonet, and is built by hand at one of the original Thonet factories located in Eastern Europe. With a cane seat and a slender, curved, walnut or
beechwood frame, it's simply sophisticated, without a stitch of trend appeal. What more could you ask for?

Crave Worthy: Blanca Settee

While the Blanca Settee ($749-$899) is available in a nearly dizzying array of custom fabrics, I'm partial to this black tile print it's shown in. Its colors reflect my black and white elegance trend alert, and the pattern definitely reminds me of these rugs. Suffice it to say, I am in love with the look of this settee. Add to its good points its versatility (use it as a bench at the foot of your bed or as extra seating at a dinner party or in a living room) and the fact that it has a kiln-dried hardwood frame and is corner-blocked for stability and structural integrity, and you've got quite the superior settee on your hands. This 1820s Northern Sweden Settee ($6,435) has great bones and a charmingly worn patina. It's a little stark though.

Shrewd online shopper and Su Casa member The City Girl recently discovered some very interesting similarities between some high-end Neiman Marcus products and some low-end Target products.

She writes, "I think that almost every company could have something in its collection to offer - if not in actual product, then perhaps with inspiration. It's just that various designers usually offer quite different, distinct looks - especially companies such as, say, Target or Neiman Marcus. So imagine my surprise when I discovered not one, but two parallels between the Neiman Marcus bed linens line, and the new(ish) Target upholstered furniture line! Take a look yourself!"

Next, The City Girl tracked down the Daybreak Bed Linens ($100-687.50) from Neiman Marcus. The pattern, woven in Portugal by Pinecone Hill, features a modern mix of birds, flowers, and stripes in shades of bluegrass and green tea.

However, if you'd like to see this pattern on a chair, you're in luck, because The City Girl found it at Target on the Canary Print Armless Chair ($299.99). I love this little chair!

Nice and New: Flor Sitting Pretty Rug

Flor tiles have always seemed casual to me, modern and piecemealed as they are. The new Sitting Pretty Rug ($374.70 for 8x10), though, looks striking and fresh in this formal living room. No, it's not a stuffy Persian import, but step onto its brilliant orange-and-pink stripe pattern and you'll feel like you're somewhere. On the other hand, it would look just at home with a bean bag chair and a cozy low coffee table as it does with this Louis Ghost Chair, delicate wainscoting, and curvy French settee. I'm sold.
