5 Places to Find a Garden Stool Under $100

Garden stools have gotten pretty popular over the last few years, and they don't seem to be losing their cool. Many, though, are absurdly overpriced. I don't want you to fall into that trap because I have also seen plenty of affordable ones. Take for instance this Round Open Work Garden Stool ($375) from Gump's. Yes, it may have an unusual mottled green glaze, but it's not any more stylish than one with a solid glaze - and its design is quite standard. You shouldn't spend any more than $100 on a garden stool, and I have even seen some for $50. I'll help you get started on your hunt.

Etsy Find: Ottoman Empire

Etsy seller Spruce Home, a design studio based in Austin, TX, has upholstered this ornate, wooden-based ottoman in Amy Butler's Nigella Primrose fabric, giving it a vibrant, modern update. The Ottoman Empire ($425) stands 14 inches high with a 30-inch diameter, the perfect size to use as a round coffee table, or set with a tray or some shelter books on top. Not only do I adore the aqua and cool green fabric used, but it looks like it'd be super comfortable used as a stool, foot rest, or even a dog bed! Casa Shops: Chairloom

Chairloom is a Pennsylvania company that repairs, reupholsters, and reinvents vintage furniture pieces, mostly seating and ottomans, with fresh, stylish fabrics. Quality antiques in their own right, given a facelift with textiles like Schumacher, Oliveiera, Rubie Green, Virginia Johnson, and John Robshaw, owner Molly Worth's pieces are inherently high-end. Her keen eye for design takes the old to new levels, with her careful arrangement and selection of fabrics and perfect choices of Benjamin Moore paint color to make colors pop. If it weren't for their price tags ($385-$4,200), I'd lay claim to her entire inventory. A friend of mine came across some of her pieces at the Brooklyn Flea recently, and shared these drool-worthy images with me. Do you covet them as much as I do?
