6 Delicious Wedding Gifts Not on the Registry

When it comes to wedding gifts, it's standard to select something practical, like china, off of the registry. However, if the bride and groom are foodies, why not consider presenting them with an awesome culinary experience instead? I've got six scrumptious suggestions that would also make wonderful birthday, anniversary, or Father's Day gifts.

Gift certificate to a restaurant. Select a fancy restaurant in the couples' home town. Place the gift certificate in a pretty card and write a note suggesting that they enjoy a meal together to celebrate their six-month anniversary. (For those couples who prefer to register for special dinners, you can do so at FoodieRegistry.)
Cooking classes. There's tons of awesome culinary classes out there, select one that suits the cooking style of the happy couple. If the bride and groom are really into cheese, purchase tickets to a cheese-making class. Likewise, if they're adventurous, present them with passes to a butchery class.

Since I'm a huge fan of entertaining, and in particular hosting dinner parties, one of the things I'm looking forward to is selecting a beautiful set of china. Although I'm currently single, when I get married, I'm definitely registering for it! However, the tradition of china can spark debate. Many modern couples don't throw dinners, and others don't have the storage space for a second set of dining ware, so they simply won't register for china. How do you feel about it?

I'm not married just yet, but since I attend plenty of weddings and buy my fair share of gifts, I've had time to dream about what will go on my registry in the event that I do get hitched. Naturally, being YumSugar and all, I mostly dream about stocking my kitchen with premium kitchen cookware and electrics.

How Should You Notify Guests Where You're Registered?

A friend of mine is getting married this Summer and is registered at several local and national stores. She nixed the idea of a wedding website (too cheesy) and felt it was tacky to advertise where she was registered with her invitation, so she's notifying guests of her registries only if they inquire. Her friends have also provided registry information for those who are attending her bridal shower.

I'm not married, but this situation got me thinking about the best way to spread the word about a wedding registry. How do you think guests should be notified?
