In the comments on my recent Show Me Your Casa post, AJH asked, "Where can I find that incredible pink hanging pendant?" It's a good question! I've been in love with the light fixture ever since I first saw it as well.

Sometimes a lamp is just a lamp. Other times, it's a takeout box or a bottle of wine parading as a light. In the latter case, it's cheeky and fun, but a little bit of a gimmick.

I spotted this photo in the portfolio of Swedish interior stylist Jakob Solgren and couldn't help but think the central copper pendant light looked quite familiar. It makes a very bold, masculine statement in the nearly all-white, very Scandinavian room, so it was hard to ignore. But where had I seen it before?

Stop laughing. You think this is funny? You know I can't glance at this Megan Auman Vertical Leaf Pendant Light ($240) for one second without pulling out my credit card.

The Jake Phipps Jeeves & Wooster series of pendant lights was designed as a playful take on lighting with a real sense of cultural identity. The bowler and top hat are classic British cultural icons reflecting a bygone era of imperialism, class divide, and eccentricity. Phipps has reinvented the felt head coverings for the retail market in a era when dapper modern design is becoming more accessible to all social spheres, but these hat pendant lights are still beyond my reach.

Designed in 1968 by Italian architect and designer Roberto Menghi, the Globo di Luce Pendant ($813-$1,170) is as captivating as it was 40 years ago. Blown glass defines the globe's shape, a transparent cable gives it the appearance of floating mid air, and its copper finish gives off a rich, warm light. It's practically solar.
