Mold is not your friend. Being exposed to mold in your home can cause allergic reactions and respiratory problems, and is very hazardous to your health. So, if you see it, or smell a musty odor in your digs, you need to remove it.

Grapefruit seed extract, along with essential oils such as clove, lavender, and tea tree oil, have antiseptic properties and operate as natural fungicides. If you're dealing with mold when cleaning a bathroom or kitchen, try adding one to two teaspoons of essential oil to two cups of water in a spray bottle. You can also mix 20 drops of grapefruit seed extract with one quart of water.

Of all the ick-worthy parts of cleaning my house, nothing makes me wrinkle my nose and say "ew" like mold does. Not only is mold gross-looking, it's also bad for your health, especially if you have asthma or respiratory issues. If you've assembled your home cleaning kit, you have all the natural ingredients needed to banish mold from your home.

FitSugar recently came to me with an icky shower curtain mold dilemma. The base of her shower curtain has been taken over by a gross pink mold. Despite efforts to tell it what time it is, putting it in the washing machine with a stain-killer, and letting it sit for hours, no dice.

I'm always coming across porcelain glove molds in antiques stores, junk shops, and flea markets. These handy finds, originally used for making gloves, are very versatile accent pieces. You can use them to display jewelry and other trinkets, or screw them into the bathroom wall to serve as clever towel racks.

My all-time favorite ice cream shop, Ici, announces their rotating handmade flavors on cute framed signs. While I love everything about the signs, from the font to the bold, black frames, my absolute favorite part of these ice cream signs is the pretty red ribbon with which they're hung.
If you have crown molding in your house, you also probably have a line of molding below it, which is known as a picture rail or picture molding.

French industrial designer Mathieu Lehanneur created Useful Mouldings, modular units made of resin-reinforced plaster meant to be fixed to the wall, which double as ornamentation and a shelf, CD organizer, odds-and-ends holder, or a bench. The design combines elements of both design and architecture, merging pieces of furniture with the structure that supports them (kind of like a built-in), making the object disappear into their environment. Useful Mouldings gives something that's traditionally been an ostentatious ornamentation a function beyond aesthetics; that's something I'd like to see more often in the design world.

One of my favorite wallpaper retailers, Ferm Living, has a few new things in store that I'm really loving. First of all, I think the way this Sewing Kit Wall Sticker ($57.50) is staged is absolutely hilarious. I think it would be clever to use it around a window or doorway in your home, especially one that doesn't have a lot of molding.
