Midday Muse: Cashmere Colors

I have to admit, I am loving the color palette of Mia's (Lucy Liu) Manhattan apartment on Cashmere Mafia (yes, I am lame). It sneakingly recalls the home of a character on yet another television show about a foursome of power women in NYC - yes, Carrie Bradshaw's creative crib. It has the same soft hues, the near-gray lavender iridescence, and a familiar celery tone in the foyer. It's nice to see the calm color palette working in both Mia's "decorated" formal grounds and Carrie's casual digs. While Patricia Fields, famed SATC costume designer, does style Cashmere Mafia as well, it was production designer Jeremy Conway who was responsible for Carrie's palette. Cashmere Mafia production designer Stephen Hendrickson and Conway must be kindred spirits then, huh?

Get the Look: A Cashmere Mafia Bedroom, The Bed

You might have caught my Get the Look recently of Mia's office in Cashmere Mafia. Well Mia, played by Lucy Liu, isn't the only one with sweet digs, Zoe and Eric have a fab modern bedroom, too. Here's what Production Designer Stephen Hendrickson had to say about it:

The upstairs bedroom of Zoe and Eric continues the cool, spare, modern aesthetic seen in the modern style of the rest of the renovated Village townhouse. Light toned wood flooring, pale colors, and a modern line to the furnishings, reflect Eric's architectural style.

To help you get this look in your home, I've rounded up some furnishings that emulate what Hendrickson chose for this bedroom. Here, a low beige bed with a frame that extends beyond the mattress and a low headboard is ultra mod and simply chic. Stay tuned for more posts focusing on other elements of the room.

Get the Look: Cashmere Mafia Mia's Office

I was recently musing over the well-curated color palette of Mia's Manhattan apartment in Cashmere Mafia. Well, my love for the show's design doesn't stop there; Lucy Liu's character has a pretty sharp office as well. I did some sleuthing and found some details on the magazine publisher's digs. Here's what Production Designer Stephen Hendrickson had to say about it:

In a newly renovated old loft building, the neutral white of the brick walls is warmed by the red and orange tones of the furnishings. To spark the energy of a hip media company, glass and chrome reflect a modern office environment, while vintage retro wood chairs bring warmth and hipness to her room.
