There's only so much we can do to make our storage look pretty without calling in California Closets for a pricey custom mahogany masterpiece - like Debi Mazar's shoe paradise. But just because you gotta work with what you got doesn't mean you're at a loss. When it comes to storing towels, roll them and stack them instead of folding them. This is not only the tightest way to store them, but the prettiest. And if, like me, you care about things like wrinkles, you'll be happy to know that "rolling with it" prevents those pesky creases and folds.

Stripes are the little black dress of tabletop décor. They're always in style. You can never go wrong with a good striped or broad-plaid tablecloth. For instance, I'm absolutely in love with the Designers Guild Dickenson print, and I don't see that changing . . . ever. It's a good thing, because a table cloth and six napkins will cost me $195. For now, I might have to treat myself to a set of four napkins ($40). But why stop there? There are so many striped table linens to love. See my other beautiful finds when you read more.

Contemporary interior designer and Top Design judge Kelly Wearstler has launched a line with luxury linens maker Sferra. The line includes bedding, pillows, throws, table linens, and napkin rings. Wearstler has pumped up the volume of her soft and subtle color palette with statement-making texture and pattern, such as couture-inspired details like hand-embroidered ribbon, appliqué-embellished silks, and delicate strié. The collection, which ranges in price from $38 to $1,650, is available online, at Neiman Marcus stores, and in specialty boutiques. This wacky tastemaker also has a boutique inside Bergdorf Goodman and a collection of hand-made rugs with The Rug Company, but her Sferra collection marks the first time her products will be available to consumers on a national retail scale. Whether you can afford them, though, that's another conversation altogether . . .

Desire/Acquire: Bold Floral Duvet Cover

I've long been a fan of the Amenity Cove Duvet Cover ($330-395). Its big, bold design makes a definitive statement in the boudoir, and its fresh, modern color scheme is a breath of fresh air. I can't think of a better occasion to debut these prickly succulents than a backyard barbecue - or perhaps a Park(ing) Day picnic. Blissliving Home has released a handful of new Fall bedding sets, and I am particularly enthralled by the Amelie Duvet Set ($225). Not only does it share the name of a quirky French film we all know and love, but also that of one of my top two favorite wine bars in San Francisco. And, if that weren't enough to get me into bed (har har), it has a perfect balance of femininity and modernity. Its large print tree graphic (much like the Marimekko Himmeli Set) gives it a contemporary earthy look. Its ombré effect keeps it trendy. And, its misty purples and pinks add femme appeal. I could do without the sheen, though. What do you think?

How-To: Homemade Linen Spray

I recently came across a wonderful recipe for homemade linen spray at Hallmark magazine of all places and had to share because it's so simple and customizable. It's also an ideal way to infuse the scent of an endless Summer into your bedroom. Spritz a bit onto your sheets or onto your clothes as you're ironing, or spray it into the air to use it like a room spray.

Supplies:

16 or 32 oz. spray bottle
2 tbsp. 100 proof vodka
Your choice of two oils, such as jasmine, bergamot, lavender, etc.
Distilled water

Here's how, from Hallmark magazine:

Mix the 2 tbsp. of vodka and your choice of these oils in the bottle as follows:
- 1 teaspoon jasmine oil and ½ teaspoon bergamot oil
- 1 teaspoon lavender oil and ½ teaspoon sandalwood oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla oil and 2 drops ginger oil
Then, add distilled water to the bottle until it is almost full.
Screw on the cap and shake the bottle to disperse the oils evenly throughout.
Shake lightly before each use.

Cool Idea: Cheeky Toile

I adore toile but sometimes feel as if it needs an infusion of humor. Enter Historically Inaccurate Decorative Arts, a textile company intent on tickling toile's funny bone. With a few carefully placed stitches, a pastoral scene goes from domestic to out of this world.
A creatively embellished toile cushion will cost you $184, with the floral-printed cushions running around $50 less. The company also makes adorable rag bunny cushions, if that's more your style. Of course, you could always buy a yard of toile at your local fabric shop and attempt some creative embellishments of your own. Tell me, do these designs make you giggle?
