Stepping Into a Sunset: Pink and Gold Decor

I love the warmth and decadence of a room filled with sunset-inspired colors. Depending on the light, you can spot shades ranging from soft lavender to fiery orange, but my favorite duo from this palette is pink and gold. Kelly Wearstler executes this look flawlessly in her office, pictured above. It's feminine but not too sweet and is filled with bold design statements and exotic accessories.

I found some decorative pieces that fit the vibe perfectly. This overdyed Aquasilk Rug ($10,100, bottom, left) features an ikat design made from recycled Indian silk Saris. The range of saturated colors would be such an amazing foundation for a room.

This set of four Fuschia & Gold Lowball Glasses ($50, center, right) have vintage and ethnic appeal, which helps to make a room feel a bit more eclectic. I'd set these out on a round tray made from beautiful wood to play up the Moroccan vibe.

Kelly Wearstler's New Ready-to-Wear Collection Interpreted For the Home

Kelly Wearstler may have made a name for herself as an interior designer, but this month she firmly planted herself in the fashion world with the debut of her first ready-to-wear collection. Don't judge the girl by the questionable crimped hair she sported on Top Design; she's got serious sartorial talent.

"So much of my influence in interior design comes from fashion," she says, "and everything relating to fashion, from jewelry, which can be reminiscent of sculpture, to the colors and silhouettes that I find in clothing. This feels like a natural evolution." It's so natural, in fact, that taking the first peek at her new line, I couldn't help be reminded of a few specific pieces of decor I'd seen. Kelly Wearstler's Maximalist Mansion on the Market

I'm excited to present a post from one of my favorite sites, ShelterPop!

The Los Angeles designer puts another one of her wildly glamorous homes on the market. If you have $46 million and love animal prints, this one's for you.

Nobody could ever convince white-hot decorating daredevil Kelly Wearstler that there's even a shred of truth to the minimalist mantra, "Less is more." For Wearstler, a plucky and gorgeous gal almost as famous for her fearlessly outlandish fashion choices as her kooky but always carefully conceived decorating style, more is always better.

Nowhere is that more apparent than in her own home, a legendary Beverly Hills, California mansion that she and her smashingly successful property developer/hotelier husband Brad Korzen bought five years ago for $25 million. They renovated, decorated and now they're ready to sell - for a vertigo-inducing $46 million.

The design-oriented duo hired Los Angeles architect Brian Tichenor to work over their über deluxe new digs in a manner that preserved much of the mansion's original architectural details.

Cool Idea: Pink Wishbone Project

This month, Suite New York launches its Pink Wishbone Project to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Twenty of the world’s leading women interior designers, including Sheila Bridges and Kelly Wearstler (whose gold safety pin-studded chair is shown here), among others, have each created one-of-a-kind cushions for the chair. The chairs themselves are being auctioned off, starting today, on CharityBuzz, with 100 percent of sales benefiting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Barneys New York is currently exhibiting the 20 customized chairs, so be sure to take a peek next time you're there shopping.

If you're not lucky enough to score one of the customized-cushion chairs, you can buy the pink-hued Wegner chair through Suite New York, which will exclusively sell the pink Wishbone Chair with 20 percent of the entire sale benefiting BCRF for one year after the event.

While a couple of the chairs have me muttering "WWHWD?" (What would Hans Wegner do?), I'm overall thrilled by the creativity of the designers behind this project. Let's take a look!

Love It or Hate It? Kelly Wearstler Neutral Bedroom

Interior designer Kelly Wearstler is known for her over-the-top style, so this rather staid use of color in a bedroom from the Trousdale residence is a bit of a surprise. I'd venture that the color choice reflects the client's preferences, though, which in turn shows that Wearstler is skilled at giving her clients what they want. What do you think of the overwhelming neutrals and khakis in this space?

Kelly Wearstler Puts Her Beige Moment on the Market

Interior designer Kelly Wearstler and her hotelier husband Brad Korzen have put their 6,000-square-foot, six-bedroom, 4.5-bath Malibu mansion on the market for a whopping $21.9 million. Situated on an exclusive 72-foot stretch of Carbon Beach on the Pacific Coast Highway, the house was actually purchased from Janet Jackson for $8.5 million, and was used as a shared beach house with three other families. Wearstler, of course, decorated the digs, and if you take a click through photos it's clear she was having a very beige moment. Over-the-top as her style may be, I usually find something to love about it. But I simply can't get behind this home - there's not a flash of color in any room in the house. Cream, yes. Tan, yes. Taupe, yes. Gray, yes. But not one hue that's not nearly completely desaturated!

The digs do have exceptional bones, though. There are exquisite finishes throughout, including Honey Onyx, Calcutta Gold and Cippolino stone, and hardwood floors. A bathroom skylight is another favorite feature, too. And the stairs! Chunky and graphic and oh so cool. Take a look and tell me what you think!

Luxury stationer Dempsey & Carroll has teamed up with Schumacher to debut a collection of limited-edition notecards and envelope liners featuring the renowned fabric house's popular Chinoiserie-style patterns: Chiang Mai Dragon, Chenonceau, and Wearstler's Imperial Trellis. Each set of 10 beveled-edge three-ply white cards and 10 lined envelopes sells for $60, and the latter two are available in five different colorways. I guess Kelly is a woman of letters!
