Inspired: Kate Hudson at Beverly Hills Burberry Opening

On Monday, Kate Hudson arrived at the grand re-opening of the Burberry Beverly Hills store looking as gorgeous as ever. But we all know Kate looks fab even when she's not all dolled up for an A-List event. What struck me about this photo wasn't Hudson's attire — the boxy Burberry dress isn't the most flattering — but the palette is awe-inspiring. I adore the chartreuse shade of this silk dress mixed with the black and gray floor decorations and the beige walls. It instantly triggered the thought of one of my favorite crave worthy items, the Rug Company Durbar Hall Rug ($1,795- 25,920). My vision is to use the Durbar Hall Rug as a base, and from there add elements in the phenomenal palette. I thought I'd design a bedroom around it, the focal point being a chartreuse tufted headboard. I created two sitting areas, and then added bedroom essentials like a dresser and a bookcase. Inspired: Kate Hudson's Zac Posen Dress

For my new series of posts, Inspired, I'll be looking far and wide to find inspiring ideas for your home. These ideas might be inspired by nature, architecture, or fashion. You never know when or where you'll be inspired! For my first post, I am absolutely smitten with Kate Hudson's Zac Posen dress from the 2009 Resort Collection, which she wore for the David Babaii for WildAid party.

I love the sheen on the fabric and the bold juxtaposition of emerald green, lemon yellow, and rich chocolate brown. The detailing on the bodice is divine as well. So, with these colors and detailing in mind, I rounded up some home items that would complement this lovely frock. In particular, I thought that the Thomas Paul pillow would fit right in with Kate's style, especially since her new hair-care line will benefit the wildlife protection program WildAid. Tell me, do you see anything here that you like as well?

This Just In: Kate Hudson Shopping For New Digs

Rumor has it that Miss Oscar-nominated Kate Hudson has recently been shopping around TriBeCa, NYC, for a new pad. She was photographed holding marketing materials for a 3,419-sq-ft., $5.2 million duplex with three bedrooms and three bathrooms at 27 N. Moore St., otherwise known as The Ice House. It also features a 22-ft. ceiling over the kitchen and dining areas. The Ice House "was built in 1905 as a Romanesque Revival TriBeCa refrigeration building," and later converted to a loft building with 58 residential lofts and several two-story penthouses. Casa Quickie: Coffee Stain Removal

Spilling coffee on a freshly dry-cleaned shirt during the morning rush is unfortunately such a recurring mishap for many of us that it's almost a cliché. Seriously — how many Kate Hudson/JLo/Sandra Bullock romantic comedies can you think of where it's a pivotal scene to the plot? If these chick-flick chicks had just had a little advice from yours truly (well, actually from Do It Yourself), they'd have won the guy, the ring, and popped out a first born well before the popcorn intermission. Be it a coffee mug or a faulty Starbucks lid, whenever you spill, just make sure you don't allow the stain to dry. Blot the spill with a clean white rag or paper towel to soak up the liquid. Then, mix a teaspoon of dishwashing soap with a cup of lukewarm water, dab it on, and blot the area again. Then mix one-third of a cup of vinegar (white) with two-thirds of a cup of lukewarm water, dab it on, and blot the area again. Rinse, and then follow your normal washing routine for the item. Then, next time, try sitting down for your caffeine fix for a change.
