If you liked my transformation of a shutter, then check out this DIY, where I show you how to make an earrings display out of some low-cost materials. This is a fun and fast DIY that will instantly transform an earring collection.
What You'll Need
- One shutter (check out an architectural salvage store or a junkyard for cheap shutters)
- Wallpaper samples, or heavy paper
- Mod Podge or wallpaper paste
- Scissors or a razor blade
- Paintbrush
- Flat edge tool, such as a credit card
- Three screws: two short screws for the back of your shutter, and one longer screw for the wall
- Screwdriver or power drill
- Picture hanging wire

I'm always coming across porcelain glove molds in antiques stores, junk shops, and flea markets. These handy finds, originally used for making gloves, are very versatile accent pieces. You can use them to display jewelry and other trinkets, or screw them into the bathroom wall to serve as clever towel racks.

Having lived in a studio in the past, I've experienced first-hand the trials and tribulations of trying to make one room play two roles. I have many friends living tiny apartments who try to cram the furniture meant for both a living room and a bedroom into the same room, and let me tell you, none have succeeded. It's not only studio dwellers that encounter these issues, though.
