Helxine soleirolii, an old-fashioned houseplant with tiny, round leaves, also has a more common (and very poetic!) name. This two-word name is related the crying of irritable infants. Can you fill in the blank with the full name?

When I lived in the snowy Midwest, I always kept a kitchen window herb garden during the Winter, and also grew alfalfa sprouts in a jar. Having something green in such a snowy part of the year kept my spirits up, and also added flavor to my cooking. Do you grow herbs or other edibles indoors in the Winter?

The next time you buy a batch of basil at the grocery store or farmer's market, don't throw away the stems! Leave a few leaves on any basil cutting that is 3 to 5 inches long. Then, pinch off the flowers on the top of the basil, cut a clean, angled end on the basil, and stick it in some water.

This indoor fabric garden melds two of my favorite obsessions: sewing and gardening. Part hanging plant, part green art installation, this installation features lovely fabrics and plants, and the hanging containers are fashioned from reused lampshades.
Have you ever tried to make your garden into art?

I stopped by Flora Grubb the other morning to grab some delicious Ritual coffee and to check out the amazing garden store for inspiration and ideas. Before picking up a gorgeous spear-like Sansaveria, I wandered around the gardens, taking in all of the beautiful plants. I was particularly taken with the way Flora Grubb had reimagined this classic car.

Nearly two years ago, I announced that Urban Outfitters, Inc., was launching a garden site. And earlier this year, when Danny Seo checked it out in person, I was looking for an excuse to head to Philly to see the store for myself. But now, it doesn't look like I'll have to book a ticket for Pennsylvania any time soon, since the gorgeous gardening and lifestyle store has just launched an e-commerce store.
