Painter, designer, and purveyor of all things ikat Madeline Weinrib is trying to change the face of Valentine's Day this year, offering up her beautiful handmade ikat and suzani pillows and clutches as V-Day gifts in place of red roses and heart-shaped boxes of chocolate. Produced historically for dowries and in marriage customs in Central Asia, suzanis do make a fittingly romantic token of affection. If you live in New York City, I'd definitely recommend picking up one for yourself or your sweetheart at her atelier on the sixth floor of ABC Carpet & Home — look at that heart-shaped ikat bolster!

Do you have a sis or a best friend whose bohemian spirit takes her to all corners of the globe? Does your gal pal love the look of layered textiles and unexpected prints? If so, then I'm sure she'd appreciate a present that will help her to decorate her home to reflect just that.

Su Casa member Bromeliad could've simply recycled this cardboard box, but she saw hidden potential in its boring exterior. She explains, "This is a simple and inexpensive project I made using a cardboard box, doublesided tape and highlighter markers."

Urban Outfitters may be the go-to fashion and décor shop for high school and college kids, but the retailer's inventory is looking a little more grown-up these days. For instance, the Carnival Slipper Chair ($325) cues in on the ikat trend in a sophisticated, Pottery Barn-like palette. Like this ripe find?

Ikat (the textile used on these shades) has been trendy in the décor world for over a year now. I tend to tire of trends quickly, but ikat still holds my heart. How about you?Source

Combining my love of ikat and my affection for poufs, the Vivre Round Ikat Ottoman ($2,100) is utterly unique, not to mention fun. It looks to me like this ottoman is embroidered, so it's actually faux ikat, but who cares? Its fiery orange squiggles and cute shape have me hooked.

Given my love for everything ikat, I was of course smitten with this set of 4 Napoleon III side chairs (circa 1860), with their ebonized wood frames and sumptuous silk Ikat fabric.
For this week's Casa Craving Challege I asked you to find a table that could stand up stylistically to these amazing chairs. And if you were so inclined, I also encouraged you to go on to find table accessories, such as candleholders, centerpieces, floral arrangements, and glass and tableware that would work with the chairs.

If you hadn't noticed that I'm obsessed with Ikat, let me wave the Ikat flag once again. Last time, it was placemats, and now I'm back with a beautiful Ikat table runner by Mimosa, who picked up the fabric when she lived in Uzbekistan. Not only is the fabric to-dye-for, but the Moroccan hand-crocheted buttons along the edges (which are found on the garments worn by men and women in Central Asia) add charm and tradition.
