Stella McCartney's Brilliant Equestrian Chandelier Returns

We all know that Stella McCartney is an animal lover, but forgoing leather isn't the only way she shows it. McCartney created an astonishing crystal sculpture in the shape of a horse in 2004 for a fashion exhibit inside the Great Hall of Belsay Castle, an English Heritage castle in the UK, and it has returned for the Easter holiday. "Lucky Spot" was made from thousands of hanging crystals, and is truly a magnificent sight. McCartney was inspired to create it after visiting the medieval castle and its quarry gardens, and it is intended to be a response to George Stubbs's famous equestrian painting, Whistlejacket. If you find yourself on the other side of the pond, you can catch a glimpse of the equestrian masterpiece through Good Friday, April 10, at Belsay Castle. Would You Pasture This Pony in Your Garden?

I don't think I've revealed to CasaSugar readers yet that I've always been a bit of a horse freak. In fact, I've been riding, reading about, and dreaming about horses since I was a wee babe. Not even injuries, buckings, and bitings have dissuaded me from this preoccupation. Given that history, there's no question whether or not I'd give this Teak Horse Sculpture ($4,700) a home on my range: I most definitely would. But are you going to say "neigh" to this pony?

Midday Muse: An Equine Topiary

I spotted this fairy tale-esque horse topiary in a post Danny Seo recently wrote about Stella McCartney's new Beverly Hills store. This is just part of her lavish garden in the back of the store. I love it, but can't imagine having a manicured, shaped topiary at my house. Can you see one in your garden?

Trend Alert: Equestrian Accents

I think many of us may have had horsey obsessions growing up. I, for one, was hooked on Elizabeth Taylor in her role as Velvet Brown in the fabulous '40s film National Velvet. The good news is, we don't have to give up the horse love just because we've grown up. In fact, the design world has been inundated with equestrian-inspired accents and décor.

Lately, I've been seeing equestrian accents popping up on everything, from snaffle bit-enhanced purses to horsehead lamps. Check out my favorite home picks for this trend.

Found It! Trompe-l'œil Grandfather Clock

I spotted this photo in the portfolio of photographer Joanna Henderson and I'm absolutely in love with it. Not only is the light beautiful, but the space couldn't be any more understatedly elegant. The trompe-l'œil grandfather clock is simply great for that white wall, and it pairs perfectly with those bentwood chairs. The little floor lantern gives this antiquey corner a bit of Eastern flair, and the horse print is so sweetly styled. But back to the clock - it looks familiar, doesn't it? Wondering where you can buy it?

Cool Idea: Use Book Pages For Art

In this photo, from Linday and Kristen Buckingham's home, their son Will's bedroom is decorated with custom bedding, a vintage Union Jack flag, and neat rows of framed artwork.

The artwork, though, isn't from any expensive gallery. Instead, they're pages from a vintage children's book. I've actually done this at my own home, with pages from one of my favorite children's books, Album of Horses. If you're unwilling to tear pages from a favorite book, consider looking for it on eBay. I've found pages from books there for minimal expense. You can also search garage sales or thrift stores for worn-out books whose artwork is still intact.
