Etsy Find: Modern Floor Cushion

I'm always looking for cute, versatile seating that can accommodate unexpected guests. The Modern Floor Cushion ($60) from Etsy seller Mookah is the perfect plus one at your next soiree. Handmade with a heavy-duty upholstery fabric, this floor cushion is composed of eight side panels with a matching top and bottom octagonal-shaped panel. It's two feet wide and 10 1/2 inches thick, so it can be easily tucked away when not needed. But why hide this cute little cushion away? I wouldn't stop at one; I'd grab three and stack them in a corner. After all, it's best to be prepared.

Ever since I discovered Marie Christophe's wire sculpture light fixtures, I've had a new-found love for wire art. My latest wire art discovery is the work of French designer Claire Rougerie, also known as De Beaux Souvenirs.

Her collection of modern wire designs includes handmade home accessories like sconces, table lamps, frames, baskets, decorative accents, as well as "snapshots" of scenery recreated in wire. I love this Wire Bingo Basket ($126), which has vintage wooden bingo numbers woven into the handmade structure (I <3 Bingo!). As you can see, it's a great place to stash shelter magazines. I might also use it to keep towels in the bathroom, or even shoes that pile up downstairs.

Etsy Find: Phila Chair

Etsy is not by any means a go-to place for furniture. But, if you are willing to sift through the crafty, country pieces, you may stumble upon a one-of-a-kind, handmade gem like this KALA Studios Phila Chair ($1,500). Simple and elegant with a beautiful walnut frame, it's what I'd call grown-up furniture for the modern home. Both the seat and back rest are upholstered, making this chair comfortable despite its rigid, tailored look. I think this piece would fit right into Twilight's Cullen Family home. Or, in my home, on second thought . . .

Crave Worthy: Psychedelic Circles Backgammon Set

I’m going to cross my fingers here and just hope that a certain ex of mine isn’t reading. Two weeks holed up in a boring town with my boyfriend’s parents and - pulling my hair out not in the cards - the only activity that helped me pass time with his ‘rents was a competitive game of backgammon. Before Scrabulous and Facebook stalking, some people actually did entertain themselves with classic games, and lucky for me, I happened to be a wiz. Nevertheless, I’ve since come to find an unparalleled brand of inter-generational bonding power in such timeless recreations and have vowed to always keep one handy. Finances aside, the Barneys Handmade Psychedelic Lacquered Wood Backgammon ($795) may just be The One: its trippy hand-painting recalls my elders' Haight-Ashbury days and its lacquered wood frame is slick enough for my modern pad. If that won't do the trick, I don't know what will.
