Have You Tried Mobile Blogging to Your Groups?

Are you ever out and about and happen to spy a gorgeous home? Or perhaps you're shopping and can't believe how cool a certain new chandelier is? If you've ever been tempted to snap a photo and share it with the CasaSugar community, good news: now you can.

One awesome new feature of the CasaSugar community is that you can contribute posts to your groups directly from your cell phone. All you need is a phone with email capabilities, such as a Blackberry or an iPhone to be able to blog on the go. Better yet, if your phone has camera capabilities, you can create posts with text and photos directly from your phone!
This is ideal for sharing your progress in decorating or renovating for groups like my Su Casa group or capturing small details throughout your home for my Lovely Little Vignettes group. How-To: Be a Groupie

To Jonas Brothers fans, being a "groupie" comes naturally. But there's another kind of group love I'm rooting for, and it concerns our new CasaSugar Decor Community. Hopefully, you got the lowdown on it from my introduction on Tuesday and are ready and rarin' to join a group!

You probably all know (and love) my decorating group Su Casa, where you share photos of your home and latest design projects, because it's sticking around. From tiny nooks to entire bedrooms, if I dig your designs, your photos and projects could be featured on CasaSugar! Are you a Su Casa member yet? If not, join! Before you join, you should make sure you register though, if you don't already have an account.

Don't get me wrong, I love Su Casa, but I've got two brand spankin' new groups I'm super excited about. To "meet" them, read more.

Lovely Little Vignettes is the place to share photos of the small vignettes you create in your home, or those you see online or a friend's home. Be it a vase and a picture frame on your bedside table, a painting and a souvenir on your fireplace mantel, or a paperweight on a stack of letters, we want to see how you make the small beautiful! And again, I may feature your very own lovely little vignettes on Casa if I like them! Join the group here!

So Fresh and So Clean is dedicated to cleaning! From small tasks like drying glasses to tedious ones like powerwashing your deck, I want to hear your tips, trials, and tribulations on getting your house. Unforutnately, cleaning is one part of home living that's never going out of style, so let's help each other through it! Join here.

Share Photos of Su Casa and More!

Whether you're into decorative painting, collecting junk, or growing orchids, you probably take lots of pride in - and photos of - your home-related pursuits. Since decorating is all about ideas, I want to see the great ones you've come up with in your own homes. So I've got a group on TeamSugar called Su Casa, where readers can share snapshots and stories related to home decorating, crafts, organizing, and gardening.

A Su Casa post could be anything from a photo of your favorite room to a tiny nook you're tickled by. Think of it as a Look Book for home style. If I see something I like in Su Casa, I might end up featuring it on CasaSugar, so don't be surprised if you get an email from me!

To join the Su Casa, just follow this link and click "subscribe" beneath the photo on the left-hand side of the page. Once you're subscribed, click Share in the upper lefthand menu of any TeamSugar page and choose what type of post you want to create. If you have just one photo and some text, create a Blog; if you have a gallery you want to share, select Photos.

TeamSugar has a great primer on how to create a blog post, so check that out if you've never posted one before. Here's a rundown of the basic process:

Add a Title and the Body (content for your post). Don't forget to click Check Spelling link and Upload an Image to make your post stand out!
Post this to a group? Click on the drop down menu and select the Su Casa group. You will only be able to see groups you're subscribed to, so if you haven't joined Su Casa yet, you will need to.
Click on the drop down menu and choose the Home and Garden Channel and add some keywords (use a comma, if needed!) in the Tags text box. Then click "I'm done" to view your post!

Got Pets? Got Furniture? Then Join My New Group!

The brand-spanking new Team group, Pets In the House, is looking for photos of pets on, around, or inside furniture. Send your pet posts, photographs, and blog entries in! I can't get enough of seeing pets on furniture. Be they dogs on rugs or cats on bookshelves, there's something about pets included in interior design shots that makes me smile. I especially adore cute pups cuddling on couches (like Frank and Angus, proud pups of Grumpalita.

Since I have a feeling that I'm not the only one feeling this phenomenon, I started a group where you can post pictures of your pets lounging on couches (and if they're not allowed up there, well, beside the couch is great, too). Feel free to also post questions about pet-friendly furniture and other pets and interiors questions here as well! Join now!

Share Your Thanksgiving Vignettes!

I hope by now you've joined my new group Lovely Little Vignettes, which is the place to share photos of the small vignettes you create in your home, or those you see online or at a friend's home. There were some great Halloween decorating vignettes shared in the group, but now I'm anxious to see your more autumnal and Thanksgiving-related vignettes! (If you're not sure what I mean by vignettes, this slideshow should make it clear.)
So, show me what you got! Be it some art books on your coffee table or your arrangement of green cachepots on your windowsill, I want to see all of your beautiful photographs of the little details throughout your home.

Before and After: A Traditional Swedish Clock Gets an Update

Su Casa member dezignerwannabe recently decided to update her traditional Swedish Mora clock. In case you didn't know, these Scandinavian floor clocks were created near the town of Mora, Sweden, around 1750, after bad farming seasons forced the Mora farmers to find another way to earn income. Many of the clocks were decorated with painted faces, but now, hardly any of the original artwork remains on the clocks, and most have been painted over with inferior, rosemaling-type designs.

Since dezignerwannabe wanted to update the look and color of her traditional clock, she decided to go for it, and, as she wrote in the title of her post, "I hope I don't regret it but after so many years it needed an update."

I, for one, can't see how dezignerwannabe would have any regrets over this update. The teal-and-gold paint combination with rosemaling designs was really holding this piece back, and while it stood out, it didn't do so in a positive manner. The real beauty in this piece is its gorgeous shape, and the simple, white paint update that dezignerwannabe gave it allows its beautiful curves to really stand out.

Casa Quickie: Group in 3s and 5s

One simple (and free) small change that you can make in your home in minutes is to regroup. As we accumulate "stuff" - things we love, things we inherited, things we can't seem to get rid of - we build up clutter. In extreme cases, this requires a full Spring cleaning, but most of the time, a little regrouping will take things from chaotic to composed. Unless there's a theme that runs through disparate pieces in one place (i.e. a mantle full of green glass), my general rule is to group similar items in 3s or 5s to keep them from looking cluttered. Three white vases. Three wheatgrass planters. Five pillar candles. This small change will make your decorating look intentional, like your possessions belong where they sit rather than like they are in motion.
