May 12 2009 - 2:00pm Growing up, I used the word "den" to describe my family's hangout room with a TV and a fireplace, and "living room" to describe our parlor-like room, which was used rarely, and when it was, for cocktail parties. It always seemed insensible to me to have a room you never use, and I vouched to make the most of my space when I had the option. This owner of this North London living room seems to really get it.

Nice interior. Personally, I like the modern touches.
1We had a living room like that as well (we called the other room the "family room"). It never got used until we put a TV in it (oh dear) and then it became the most popular room in the house, even though the family room had the cable and the big screen!
The TV is amazing too because we got a cool one so it still matches the room even when it's turned off!

We have the Danish Modern one in the Walnut and it looks fantastic!!!
2A little vanilla for me.
3More stuff to just sit there. Ugh. I hate the idea of a room that is used three times a year for parties. It's so wasteful.
