Love It or Hate It? Fried Egg Candle

South Korean design studio Broadhong created this Fried Egg Candle (still a prototype), which looks exactly like a fried egg, but when melted resembles yolk dribbling out of an egg cooked overeasy. Once the candle has burnt completely, the plate can be used as a saucer. I think it's pretty clever; what about you?Source

Casa Quickie: Easier Egg Cleanup

I like eggs. I like scrambled eggs and fried eggs and poached eggs and hard-boiled eggs and deviled eggs. Omelettes and French toast are friends of mine. I'll eat eggs in any style. I like them, Sam-I-am! But, I do not like dried eggs on dishes! Peeling dried eggs off of my spatula is an unpleasant Saturday morning routine. Fortunately, I learned to save myself a little headache by washing my dishes used for cooking and eating eggs (whatever style egg it may be!) with cold water. Hot water, I now realize, just cooks dried egg (and milk) further onto dishes and cooking utensils. Cold water still requires a little elbow grease, but that's nothing my guns can't handle.

Are You Dyeing Easter Eggs Today?

My favorite part of Easter has always been dyeing eggs. Not especially competitive, I couldn't care less for the hunt. But crafty as I am, I always enjoy getting my hands inked up and smelling like vinegar. Growing up, I loved seeing what designs my friends and family came up with for their eggs, too - and knowing mine were better. OK, I guess I'm a little competitive. Are you dyeing eggs today?

The Iconic Egg Chair's Guide to the Galaxy

If, like me, you're a fan of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books, good news: the latest book in Douglas Adams's series has recently been released, with And Another Thing . . . written by Irish author Eoin Colfer. But what does this have to do with interior decorating, you ask? Well, a lot! Since the iconic Arne Jacobsen Egg chair is featured in Colfer's book, a limited-edition version of the egg chair was created by Fritz Hansen in collaboration with Lost Weekend and Penguin Group. The redesign features an embroidered, colorful array of lines on the back of the chair, representing an exploding Earth. Each chair is made from white hide and comes with a coordinating cowhide pillow. A matching footstool will also be available for sale as well. Only 42 chairs will be made, so these are definitely collector's items.

If you're in New York, stop by the Union Square Barnes and Noble at 7 p.m. this evening to check out a reading by Colfer, and one of the iconic chair redesigns, in person!

Cool Idea: Get the Egg Out

Interior stylist Paul Lowe makes beautiful vignettes with food, flowers, and home interiors and often creates unexpectedly charming arrangements from everyday objects.

I love this particular idea of Paul's: using egg cups instead of vases! Egg cups are a great way to cluster short-stemmed flowers or to display one big bloom, such as a dinner plate dahlia. Look for egg cups at flea markets or resale shops or online on eBay or Etsy. I'm kind of in love with this vintage Japanese egg cup. Have you tried decorating with egg cups?

Alexander McQueen Debuts Limited-Edition Egg Chair

Alexander McQueen is taking his talent from the runway to your living room. The Egg Chair, which he created in 2002 as part of his store design - not to be confused with Arne Jacobsen's Egg Chair - will be produced in a limited-edition run of five chairs, available to buy this month in his London and New York boutiques. The chairs will feature his iconic houndstooth print from the AW09/10 women's collection, "The Horn of Plenty." Roundup: Eggs in Your Place

I don't know about you, but I'd much rather have eggs in my place than egg on my face, which is why I was on the hunt again for fabulous Easter-inspired egg finds. Yesterday I showed you chicks, and today I present you with eggs. One of my favorite egg accents is the Droog Design Egg Vase ($146). It was developed by Marcel Wanders using a pretty unusual technique: the design was originally conceived by stuffing hard-boiled eggs into a latex condom.

This Just In: Arne Jacobsen's Classic Egg Chair Reimagined

To celebrate 50 years of the iconic Arne Jacobsen Egg chair, artist Tal R has created 50 unique designs of the chair, which were revealed this past week at the furniture fair in Milan. The 50 designs will be exhibited at Galleria Carla Sozzani through April 27, and then will travel to galleries and museums around the world.

The patchwork-quilt Egg chair designs are made from materials collected in such far corners as Istanbul and Denmark. "The whole point was to make a chair that tells a multitude of stories. So the pieces of cloth had to be full of life. It should look a bit as if it was homemade," explains Tal R.

I love this unexpected take on the Egg chair. Are you a fan as well?

Sex and the City: Carrie's Marvelous Mexico Egg Chair

While I'm absolutely in love with Carrie's new apartment, there are many other aspects of the Sex and the City movie set that I'm equally in love with. One of these would have to be the wicker egg chair from the fab four's Mexico vacation.

I think that this chair is a brilliant casting choice; its design perfectly mirrors Carrie's emotional state in this scene in the movie, and provides welcome shelter to her, even as Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte soak in the sun. In my interview with production designer Jeremy Conway, he told me that the wicker egg chair was from an outdoor furniture store in Los Angeles, where the Mexico vacation scenes were shot. However, if you're coveting this chair and aren't in LA, I have another source for you, which I'll tell you about when you read more.

While not an exact match for Carrie's more cocoon-like chair, the Palmetto All-Weather Wicker Chair ($1,299), which I asked your opinion about just last month. Do you like Carrie's chair better than the Palmetto? Tell me in the comments.

This Just In: Happy 50th Mr. Egg Chair!

The world famous Egg chair, designed by Danish architect Arne Jacobsen in 1958 and manufactured by Fritz Hansen, will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year by releasing 999 limited-edition designs. The limited-edition collection will debut a chocolate-brown suede back and chocolate-brown leather upholstery, and a hand-polished, solid-bronze base. Each chair will be marked with a unique number and brief history of the celebrated design, and be accompanied by a limited-edition 50th anniversary book. The Egg chair was originally designed for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark and can be seen around the world in the National Art Center in Tokyo, high-end hotels, and private homes. The 999 limited-edition designs will be available for purchase in select stores beginning Feb. 1.
