Are You Dyeing Easter Eggs Today?

My favorite part of Easter has always been dyeing eggs. Not especially competitive, I couldn't care less for the hunt. But crafty as I am, I always enjoy getting my hands inked up and smelling like vinegar. Growing up, I loved seeing what designs my friends and family came up with for their eggs, too - and knowing mine were better. OK, I guess I'm a little competitive. Are you dyeing eggs today?

Roundup: Contemporary Baskets

I wont be hunting for any Easter eggs this year, but if I were, I'd want to put them in a contemporary basket. The requisite pastel pink and purple baskets are festive and traditional, but it's 2009. It's about time for some modern Easter decor - at least for grownups. Let the kids have their fun with dyeing eggs while you fill a sleek, mod basket with some cordials, some gourmet food items, and a bottle of bubbly for the big kids on Sunday. Roundup: Eggs in Your Place

I don't know about you, but I'd much rather have eggs in my place than egg on my face, which is why I was on the hunt again for fabulous Easter-inspired egg finds. Yesterday I showed you chicks, and today I present you with eggs. One of my favorite egg accents is the Droog Design Egg Vase ($146). It was developed by Marcel Wanders using a pretty unusual technique: the design was originally conceived by stuffing hard-boiled eggs into a latex condom.

Happy Easter! Did someone in your family or circle of friends receive a cute basket from the Easter Bunny today? If so, I bet all of you eco-savvy Casa readers aren't going to just throw that basket out. Instead, think about how you could reuse it!

For this latest How Would You post, I'd like you to think outside the home-decorating box and find some creative ways to repurpose a woven Easter basket. How would you use it in your home? In what room? For what purpose? Would you use it for holding bath products? For craft projects? For jewelry? Add anything to it? Repaint or refinish? The Card Shop: Hippity Hop Letterpress Bunny Card

Although it may not exactly be tradition to send cards for Easter (Christmas, yes; birthdays, yes), I'd be delighted to receive this Hippity Hop Letterpress Bunny Card ($3.50). I'm loving the cute bushy tails and long whiskers of this quintuplet of rosy bunnies. Considering that Easter is fast approaching, and Spring has officially sprung, I most definitely endorse sending some in celebration of the vernal equinox, too. If Trix are for kids then bunny love should be for grownups, right?

In anticipation of Easter, I figured I should throw some more rabbits at you. Well, not literally, but figuratively anyhow. Cool Idea: Fabric Easter Eggs

Kristin from Sew Mama Sew has presented an adorable project just in time for the Easter bunny. She writes,

A couple of years ago I started sewing fabric eggs. I love the feel of them and so do kids. When you get some in your hands you can’t help but toss, catch, throw and juggle. Every year I try to replace a few more of the plastic eggs that we use for Easter Egg hunts with cloth eggs.

Kristin has sewn secret pockets into these fabric eggs that can hold wee chocolate treats or coins. Ingenious! Have basic sewing skills and want to try this project? You can download the pattern here.

Roundup: I Want Some Bunny to Love

While most people associate the Easter bunny with the Christian holiday, according to Saxon tradition, the Easter bunny is the earthly symbol of the pagan goddess Eostre who was worshiped in the pagan festival of Eastre, which was a celebration of Spring. Only much later, when Germans brought the legend to the United States, was the Easter bunny integrated into Easter Sunday festivities.

Whatever the stories surrounding the origin, I love the Easter bunny - heck, I love all bunnies (unless they get in my garden, and then I get hopping mad).
