Designer Spotlight: Gary Spain

San Francisco-based interior stylist Gary Spain creates eclectic interiors that take inspiration from unexpected sources. Indeed, in the current issue of California Home+Design, he notes that, "When I’m on a project, I’m really inspired by everything I see."

Spain's interiors mix high- and low-end finds, global influences, and showstopper new and vintage pieces. This aesthetic can be seen on this month's cover of California Home+Design, where he combines French Provençal chairs, original art, vintage high-end pieces, and a CB2 pendant lamp to create a lively, welcoming living room.

Spain, who previously worked as a creative director and photo stylist in Dallas, TX, has lived in San Francisco for four years, where he works for editorial photos shoots, advertising shoots, and catalogs, concentrating on styling and interior design. In the magazine, he explains his aesthetic by saying “I find interesting, weird things and make them work. I want people to walk in and be wowed. I like to create spaces that make people think." Designer Spotlight: Kristen Buckingham

Blending family-friendly coziness, rocker chic, and Bohemian sensibilities seems only fitting for designer Kristen Buckingham. She is, after all, married to Lindsey Buckingham, guitarist for Fleetwood Mac. The Buckinghams' home is featured in the current issue of Elle Decor, and showcases Kristen's unique decorating style.

Kristen started off her professional life as a portrait photographer, and now has channeled her energies into interior and product design. Their Los Angeles home, which they share with their three children and multiple pets, serves as a design lab of sorts for Kristen's ideas.

Kristen's designs draw from numerous sources, and I admire her bold use of pattern, such as pairing striped wallpaper with a striped upholstered chair. Designer Spotlight: Domestic Construction

While most Anthropologie catalogs are beautifully styled, the fabric rooms pictured in this particular catalog truly took my breath away. The stitched backdrops and room facades were designed by Trish Andersen and Maureen Walsh, whose design studio Domestic Construction focuses on interiors, environments, and unique fashion and home products. Trish and Maureen met at Savannah College of Art and Design. Each woman then moved to New York to pursue her passion separately, with Trish working as a display coordinator at Anthropologie and Maureen working on her clothing line, Uncle Bikes. With the formation of Domestic Construction, these two bright lights of the design world are truly showcasing their sparkle. Make sure to check out their Etsy site to purchase some of their designs. Designer Spotlight: Scott Weston

Sydney-based architectural, interior, and graphic designer Scott Weston has a slew of awards under his belt, including Best Commercial Interior and Best Use of Color from the Design Institute of Australia. His design of the Medusa Hotel was voted one of "the coolest hotels in the world" by Condé Nast Traveler. I find his innovative use of color awe-inspiring, and his theatrical designs, be it a bell-curved ceiling or stage-like curtains in a kitchen, make each room in his portfolio a treat to enjoy - like tickets to a Broadway musical. Designer Spotlight: Ondine Karady

Today's Designer Spotlight goes by the name of Ondine Karady. Ring a bell? That's probably because you've watched her facing challenges and wowing us with her design skills on season two of Top Design. As you may know, Ondine was part of a small team of designers on the set of Sex and the City. Unfortunately for all of us (tear) Sex and the City's television pulse stopped beating, but Ondine moved forward, starting her own eponymous SoHo-based boutique design firm. She's since carried an impressive list of clients, including celebs, Hollywood directors, and Washington political elite. Her firm, OK, also has a collection of custom furniture, ceramics, and hand silk-screened wallpapers inspired by mid-century designs. Pasquier also collaborates with various trend studios to advise companies on their creative endeavors, positioning brands and analyzing growing trends, translating her observations into attainable style. Designer Spotlight: Suzy Hoodless

After five years as an interiors editor at Wallpaper*, Suzy Hoodless decided to ditch the written page and try her hand at designing interiors herself. She set up a design consultancy in 2000, specializing in interior design (both residential and commercial), and since then has racked up clients all over the globe. Be it a hunting lodge in Scotland, a beach house in Barbados, or a members only club in London, Hoodless brings a unique, timeless aesthetic to each interior. What impresses me most about her style is that it doesn't adhere to any design trends which, as we all know, can fade fast. Yes, you may find a Louis Ghost Chair or a mid-century credenza in her portfolio, which are ubiquitous these days. But you'll barely notice they're there . . . the entire composition of her rooms themselves is really what grabs me. There's also a quirky British element to her work that I adore; why not hang a chair on the wall like artwork or use a simple log as a bench? Check out the gallery below to see what I mean.

Designer Spotlight: Tom Scheerer

Architectural and interior designer Tom Scheerer combines an architectural sensibility with a comfortable, refined aesthetic in a look he calls "relaxed modernism." His interiors favor well-planned rooms, spatial arrangements, color, and texture over purely decorative elements, and he uses antiques sparingly and artwork decidedly. Having practiced design since 1985, his work can be found in New York, East Hampton, Nantucket, and the Bahamas as well as the pages of Elle Décor, House & Garden, Architectural Digest, and House Beautiful, and he is often named one of House Beautiful's "Top 100" designers. Designer Spotlight: Angie Hranowsky
