Aimeeb shared an adorably girl photo of her kitty Jezebel in the Pets in the House TeamSugar group. Aimeeb says,

My little Jezebel just loves being a girl. Every time I take out my cosmetic bag she makes it a point to tip it over, pull everything out and make it her new home. She truly is a girly girl, just like her mom.

I wonder if BellaSugar needs a feline intern?

I think I'm going to have to step up my knitting skill set beyond the basic knit one purl two, because Farmer Fox is making me crazy covetous. Parents with a knack for knitting would be well-served to grab one of these patterns, which I found first at Craft:, and are available from Ariadne Knits and the fabulous brain of Montreal designer Jennie Eveleigh Lamond for $4.50 as a PDF download. So. Cute.

Cute Idea: Embroidered Menorah

I recently came across an adorable holiday idea that I simply couldn't resist sharing with you . . . and ooohing and ahhhing over it. I may not be of the Jewish faith, but I'm seriously jonesing for this adorable embroidered menorah by Floresita. Yeah, the snowflakes and the miniature tree amp up the cute factor, but I just love how mother-of-pearl buttons act as candlelight. This would make a perfect holiday gift or decoration for anyone celebrating Hanukkah this year. Perhaps if you're having a dinner party, you could embroider a name onto each piece of fabric, and use it as a place card that doubles as a gift. You could also use a similar format to embroider a chandelier using buttons. You like?

Fall Style: Marc Jacobs's NYC Halloween Window Display

On Thursday, I posted a photo of the Halloween window display at Marc Jacobs's San Francisco store. Not surprisingly, a few of you called it "cute" and "cool." But community member Mica said the windows in Jacobs's West Village, New York store are "way crazier," with "a zombie swamp diorama in all three windows." She shared this photo of the window display. I must say, these decorations do look much spookier, but the San Francisco store takes the cake for chic and cute.

Ask Casa: Decorating With a Puppy in Mind

Hi Casa,

We've just recently adopted an adorable puppy, and we're having a great time with her. The only problem is she's taken over the house! We had to move and hide anything she might eat or chew, so our living room and bookcases look empty.

Our kitchen is overwhelmed by her dog bed, and her doggy toys are scattered all over. Plus there's always that dog "smell." I know we need to just find the right system of organization and storage that will be safe for her and attractive to us, but I don't even know where to start! Any suggestions or tips?

Hi Alex,

As it happens, I'm pretty well-versed on this one, since my husband and I adopted a puppy back in June (that's him lounging on a friend's sofa a few months ago). It's been eight years since I dealt with a puppy, and I'd forgotten how much work it is! Here are the most helpful things that I've gleaned from my experience of living with, and decorating around, a puppy.

During the day, the puppy is crated, so I usually air out his dog bed on our deck, to keep it smelling fresh. This helps cut the doggy smell.
To organize his toys, I placed a blue tin bucket in one corner. It's actually a really cute container in itself. While Haiko, our puppy, will take his toys out (and won't return them, sigh), it's easier to just toss them all in this bucket once he's abandoned one. This keeps us from tripping over bones and balls, and also keeps the house tidier.
Try to teach your puppy to enjoy one place in common areas as her spot. You can do this by placing her bed in that area, and then rewarding her with praise and treats when she stays there. Eventually, she'll settle in that spot.
I sympathize with you and your empty bookshelves, but don't worry, your puppy will grow out of the chewing stage. I'd try replacing your books little by little. Make sure to sternly tell your pup "No!" if she tries to chew on them, and give her a Kong or bone when she approaches your books. Our puppy went through a long chewing phase, but with simple reprimands and redirecting, he's now left our books and records alone.
To cut down on the doggy smell further, air out your house by opening windows. You can also try a natural air freshener or Nature's Miracle to eliminate odors.
Since doggy smells tend to stick to upholstery, keeping your pets off of furniture will reduce doggy smells as well. If you can't bear to keep your pup off the sofa or bed, you can try laying down a fleece blanket where your puppy usually rests. Make sure to regularly wash the blanket to cut down on smells.

Before and After: A Change in Chelsea

Camila of High-Heeled Foot in the Door is at it again! This time the DIY expert and interior designer conquered her young sister's apartment in Chelsea, NYC, which is shared with two roommates. Communal living spaces often pose a problem, as each roommate has her own tastes, and recent grads often can't afford to be spending their hard-earned mula on décor. So with a budget of only $350, Camila made over her sister's living/kitchen/dining area. As you can see, this wall with cupboards was a bit of wreck before. She says, "I swear the busted chair was just like that. I did not stage it!" Want to see the after photo? Then read more.

A few punches of color face off with plain vanilla walls - and win. She painted the cabinets with chalkboard paint, which is ideal for notes between roomies. And the stools flanking the cabinets were a curbside find, which she upholstered in chic gray stripes. Accessories and some cute embroideries add girlish flair. IKEA France Celebrates the 30th B-Day of the Billy Bookcase

It's been 30 years since IKEA designer Gillis Lundgren debuted the wildly popular Billy Bookcase ($89.99). The product is a classic, streamlined design that's been used to store everything from pantry items to novels, and has been personalized every which way in homes around the world. So to celebrate, IKEA France is running a promotion called Your Billy, where the bookcase's fans can send in photos of how they've DIY'd it to enter to win IKEA gift cards. The retailer has also released a limited-edition Billy collection printed with graffiti/doodle-style words, as well as a special anniversary book recounting the history of the bookcase, and some cute related products like "B" Bookends. IKEA US doesn't seem to be running the same promotion just yet, but the US is usually the last. So we'll stay tuned!
