Inspired: Blue Sky For the Inside

When I recently spent some time in my home state of Wisconsin, I was wowed by the gorgeous skies. It seems as if we never get the same dramatic, cumulus cloud formations in the Bay Area, so I was excited to stare at the sky in the late afternoons, enjoying the view. Of course, these clouds also made me think of ways they could be adapted into your home.

Crave Worthy: Moss Cloud Chandelier

I'm a firm believer in the notion that it pays to dream. Just the thought of one day hanging this Cloud Chandelier ($40,000) in a high ceilinged foyer of my own truly has me floating on cloud nine. Yes, I know the thing costs more than a car or a down payment on a house. But I really feel that one fine day this 32-armed, mouth-blown crystal luminary will be mine. Until then, I'll just go to sleep where life is all hearts, stars and black American Express Cards.

DIY: Cloud-Like Ceiling Lamp

If, like me, you were wondering how Ashley got the look of the awesome ceiling lamp fixture in her Very Carrie Bedroom, you're in luck, because Ashley's shared her DIY with the rest of us!

What You’ll Need

Lamp shade
felt (1-1.5 yards or about 20 felt sheets from a craft store)
hot glue gun
scissors

Want to find out how to make this cool, cloud-like lamp cover? Then read more.

Cut out many, many felt circles, approximately one or two inches in diameter. They can vary a little and do not need to be perfect circles.
Fold the felt circle in half and put a small line of glue down the center crease.
Place petal down onto shade and secure the crease to the surface
Keep adding as many as you want, and overlap some to fill the entire surface

Nice and New: Blanca Gomez at Velocity

Prints by Madrid-based graphic designer and illustrator Blanca Gomez are now available at Velocity Art and Design, and I'm totally adoring them. Gomez's designs feature classically styled messieurs and mesdames accompanied by colorful balloons, raindrops, and other cheerful, child-like imagery. There's a near-stick-figure simplicity to her figures that evokes 1960s art; it's utterly charming. I'm loving this Monsieur print - the seafoam clouds, the shapely raindrops, the fedora: I can almost hear him singing, "Alouette, gentille alouette, alouette, je te plumerai." Roundup: Sunny Day

After months of a drought, San Francisco is finally getting a pounding of rain. I've had enough of it and all I want is a sunny day! So I thought I'd round up a collection of cheerful, sun-inspired furnishings to brighten my days indoors until the clouds go away. Trend Alert: Magical Mushrooms

Maybe it was a natural follow-up to the garden gnome trend, but it seems as if the interior design world has gone a little wild for the mushroom motif as of late. From high-end fungi such as the Artifort Mushroom Chair ($2,529)
to more affordable items like the Paper Cloud Mushroom Pillow ($75), there's no reason not to ensure that each of our homes has some fungus among us.

Casa Verde: Graypants Scrap Lights

Seattle-based design collaborative Graypants designed Scrap Lights (inquire for price), a series of pendant lights made from salvaged pieces of corrugated cardboard. I love how the reused cardboard's grooves and folds reflect dreamy, cloud-like patterns on the wall. The truth is, these days it's not hard to find beautiful furnishings made of reused or sustainable materials; however, Scrap Lights' design makes use of corrugated cardboard's unique structure, which is really appealing to me. I'd love to see a few of these pendants used above a kitchen island or a bar. Where would you hang them?

This Just In: Dido Sells Her House in Hollywood Hills

According to Big Time, Dido has sold her three-bedroom, 3,739-square-foot home in the Hollywood Hills "for an undisclosed price after it had been on the market for $4.6 million." She paid $4.15 million in September 2005 for the property. According to listing information, the house boasts:

A Hollywood Regency-style living room with a fireplace and views of the pool and grounds, a media room that also has views, a large dining room with French doors, a remodeled kitchen, and a large master suite with sitting areas, a gym, large closets, and a marble bathroom.

It also, "has two additional bedroom suites and sits on a 0.46-acre parcel that contains a large motor court." And, records show that her real name is Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O’Malley Armstrong! To see images of the digs, read more.
