Talk about changing the look of things! Craftster member Olga reports that this buffet, which is made from cheap materials, was purchased for $15. She writes, "I wanted to do something to help this buffet, and at the same time I needed to get more practice with different or new materials.

The body and base of this sideboard is made of wood and covered with a branch-like cut-out that covers the whole body of the metallic (not mirrored) piece, which was finished with a lacquer for high gloss shine. According to the product description of this limited edition piece, the structure "transports the external nature to the interior" in a way that is "imposing and functional." No price was listed.

A sideboard is flat-topped dining room case piece with cupboards and drawers that is designed to store dishes, glass, silverware, and table linens, and is placed against the wall. It's okay to confuse sideboards with buffets and credenzas; their use has the same, or a very similar intent.

When it comes to buffets, there's the all-you-can eat variety and the furniture variety. The latter is a type of table often found in a dining room and used to hold food platters during a meal. Buffets typically come with compartments and drawers designed to hold plates, utensils, and other serving ware.

Having lived in a studio in the past, I've experienced first-hand the trials and tribulations of trying to make one room play two roles. I have many friends living tiny apartments who try to cram the furniture meant for both a living room and a bedroom into the same room, and let me tell you, none have succeeded. It's not only studio dwellers that encounter these issues, though.

Philippe Starck has no doubt had an influence on many areas of the design world, but he will never escape his Louis Ghost Chair. The 2002 design pared down the opulent Louis XVI chair and is as relevant, contemporary, and stylish today as it was seven years ago. Starck did try to reimagine it in a child size, the Lou Lou Ghost Chair, but Louis reigns supreme.

I noticed that several of you mentioned your love for the table lamp in my recent gender-neutral bedrooms slideshow. I'm with you on that one; it's definitely a statement piece and it does a fabulous job of picking up the subtle blue colors in the bedding. Lucky for you, I know who makes the lamp, and I've actually written about the designer before.
