Charlie Sheen Buys a #Winning Mediterranean

Charlie Sheen may or may not be off his rocker, but there's one facet of his high-profile life where I do believe he is #winning. Sheen just scooped up a 9,020-square-foot, six-bedroom, eight-bath manse in the prestigious gated community of Mulholland Estates in Sherman Oaks, CA for $7.5 million, and it is a beauty.

Save for the Mediterranean-style exterior, which is I think too played-out in Los Angeles, the house is stunning. The estate has sophisticated hardwood floors throughout; a fresh, white traditional kitchen with fancy new Bosch appliances; French doors; an open floor plan with a two-story entry and sweeping staircase; a mirrored entry bar; and views of the city, mountains, and canyons. Step outside for an outdoor bar/kitchen with Viking barbeque, two terraces, lawns, and large gas-heated veranda a pool.

Jennifer Aniston's $42 Million Home Hits the Market - Officially!

A week or so ago, People announced that Jennifer Aniston was "quietly putting her Beverly Hills home on sale to the tune of $42 million." I searched high and low for real estate listings and photographs to no avail, but knew I'd see it sooner or later. Now, Aniston's stunning Beverly Hills home, which was featured in Architectural Digest last year, has officially hit the market and she's welcoming well-heeled buyers!

The house was designed by renowned mid-century modern architect Hal Levitt, and has been meticulously restored and redesigned by acclaimed architect Stephen Shadley since Aniston purchased it in 2006 for $13.5 million. The property has a tranquil Balinese-inspired design with separate "Ohana" units for extended family, as well as focus on the exterior with a pool, spa, ponds, and fountains.

As for the interiors, the 10,000-square-foot, 5-bedroom, 7-and-one-half bath manse boasts "a gourmet chef’s kitchen, a prep and catering kitchen, family room, rosewood paneled formal living room, secondary living room with a wet bar, 3 additional bedrooms each with their own en-suite baths and a master suite with dual baths, a Japanese Ofuro tub as well as a sunken spa tub, steam shower and generous closet space."

Kelly Wearstler's Maximalist Mansion on the Market

I'm excited to present a post from one of my favorite sites, ShelterPop!

The Los Angeles designer puts another one of her wildly glamorous homes on the market. If you have $46 million and love animal prints, this one's for you.

Nobody could ever convince white-hot decorating daredevil Kelly Wearstler that there's even a shred of truth to the minimalist mantra, "Less is more." For Wearstler, a plucky and gorgeous gal almost as famous for her fearlessly outlandish fashion choices as her kooky but always carefully conceived decorating style, more is always better.

Nowhere is that more apparent than in her own home, a legendary Beverly Hills, California mansion that she and her smashingly successful property developer/hotelier husband Brad Korzen bought five years ago for $25 million. They renovated, decorated and now they're ready to sell - for a vertigo-inducing $46 million.

The design-oriented duo hired Los Angeles architect Brian Tichenor to work over their über deluxe new digs in a manner that preserved much of the mansion's original architectural details.

Mischa Barton Lists Her Beverly Hills Mediterranean Manse

Mischa Barton's high-paid days as Marisa Cooper are long over, and unfortunately her career hasn't picked up as she expected it might when she left The O.C. after its third season. So the mortgage on the 7,600-square-foot, six-bedroom, 10-bath Beverly Hills home she scooped up in 2005 is one that I suspect she simply can't afford, and she's listed it on the market for $8.4 million. Seeing as she bought the property at the height of her fame for $6.4 million, she's set to make a pretty penny on this one if her asking price is met.

In a past interview about her home, Mischa said, "When I arrived in LA, I looked at 10 houses. This was the last one on the list. It was a little beyond my price expectations, but I immediately fell in love with it. It's almost as if I would be living in the country. There's no traffic, no loud cars, simply heavenly quiet."

The house boasts two detached guest suites, a lush courtyard, a large terrace, a pool, and beautiful Mediterranean architectural details. Barton's décor choices, are on the other hand, are less crave worthy. She's washed it with a peach and neutral palette, and outfitted it with gaudy, gold tables and ostentatious, swagged valances. Former Fixer-Upper of DJ AM Is For Sale

The former Beverly Hills home of the late DJ AM has been listed for $3.8 million. The 4-bedroom, 4.5-bath midcentury home is private and gated with both canyon and city views. It boasts "rich mahogany floors, custom built-in theater, Crestron system, and flat-screen TVs throughout, two-sided fireplace, office, large kitchen with stainless steel appliances and carrerra marble countertops," according to the listing.

AM purchased the property for $1.9 million in the Spring of 2007, and made some wonderful changes to it before his death. I love how he landscaped the pool with grass and slate tiles to complement its prismatic shape and chime in on its modern aesthetic. When he bought the property there were also some awful Ionic columns out front, which were completely amiss with the midcentury architecture, and it looks like he replaced them with something simple or just covered them up with shrubbery. He also added one and one-half bathrooms. He modernized the two-sided fireplace in the living room and had a custom built-in theater built above it. And I suspect he installed a television which rises from the foot of bed. It's unfortunate that he wasn't able to see the profits of his terrific renovations.

Diane Keaton Flips Again

For a change, prolific house flipper Diane Keaton has put her private residence on the market after teaming up with interior designer Stephen Shadley to make extensive changes. The 8,434-square-foot house is a Spanish Colonial Revival in Beverly Hills with seven bedrooms and nine baths, and is listed for $12,995,000. It was originally designed in the 1920s by architect Ralph Flewelling, who is well-known for the fountain he designed for the intersection of Wilshire and Santa Monica boulevards in Los Angeles. The home is decorated with a sort of Spanish authenticity combined with an "old California" reference, giving it a very Western vibe. Its fantastic lighting, vast courtyard, and stunning architectural features (arches galore) are undoubtedly its greatest features, although Keaton and Shadley have given a very welcoming, rustic polish that I find unique. I don't know how I feel about the sleeping Mexican farmer statues arranged around her courtyard fountain - common in missions, but strange in a home. read more. Perry purchased the property in 1999 for $2.9 million, and sold it in 2005 for $6.1 million. This Spring, he purchased a modern three-bedroom in LA for $4.5 million. And this Summer he paid $883,000 for a modest fixer-upper in LA's Studio City. It's clear that Perry is a modern man who loves to shop the market. While this industrial modern estate isn't quite my taste, it's certainly quite dramatic and architecturally stunning. I'd love to spend a weekend there, or even a few months . . . and pretend to be Marcia Brady with a trust fund.

Country singin' couple Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have put their sprawling 10,500-square-foot, six-bedroom, five-bath Beverly Hills mansion on the market for a measly $14.8 million, according to Real Estalker. The property description reads:

Mediterranean estate w/ grand views & privacy in prestigious Beverly Park South. Situated on over 4 acres the estate offers sweeping panoramic views. Grand two story entry features limestone floors, large skylight & wrap around staircase. This home is highlighted by a spacious and elegant master suite w/ his & her baths connecting to a state of the art gym. Gourmet kitchen w/ stainless steel appliances, large open formal dining room w/ step down living room. Manicured gardens w/ luxurious pool.

I'm really loving the exterior, and the structure itself, and "sweeping panoramic views" sound pretty fab to me. But, I'm not too keen on some of their nouveau riche décor choices (faux wall treatments, so much beige). I'm sure all of their furnishings are high quality, but the interior doesn't seem to have much flavor, flow, or any cohesive style . . . a shabby chic pink dining room and then an Art Deco brick red sitting room? Seems like musician Robbie Williams might be immune to bad property values news, as he has paid a whopping $23.9 million for a 13,638-square-foot, seven-bedroom, seven-bath mansion in Beverly Hills, according to Real Estalker.The listing for the sprawling property reads:

Mark Wahlberg has put his five-bedroom, 10.5-bathroom, 15,000-square-foot Beverly Hills manse on the market for a whopping $15.9 million, according to Real Estalker. The listing for the property reads:

Privacy, unbelievable outdoor areas and gorgeous views. 15,000 SF of dramatic spaces, including an amazing 2 story private guest house, basketball court, 2500 SF gym with boxing rink and trainer's quarter, lavish waterfall pool w/ grotto, cabanas wired for sound and flatscreens. Newly constructed motor-court, Screening room/Theatre appointed w/ high ceilings, 35mm digital projection technology, 2 luxurious living rooms, bedroom suites all opening to lush gardens and resort like settings.

Wahlberg purchased the property in November 2001 for $4.95 million, and since then has dropped a lot of dollars on renovations. There doesn't seem to anything particularly exceptional about the property; it's your typical outlandish celebrity property with all of the unnecessary conveniences, few unique architectural elements, and not a stitch of personal style. I must say, I think a television screen that takes up nearly the entire wall (and isn't concealed) is beyond tacky.
