Young Polish designers Olga Dabrowska and Adam Groch (aka +OYO) created the Flower BagPack (prototype) as an alternative for the cellophane wraps for bouquets. The bag is not only good-looking, but also eco-friendly and more functional than the traditional cellophane sleeve.
There are two variations of the design.

I must have snaps on the brain. When I ran across this top snap pouch, designed and sewn by candyargyle, I knew I had to have it. I already use a couple of fabric zipper bags to organize my cell phone, iPod, lip balm, and other purse essentials, but this snap pouch would work just as well.

Cork is a versatile, sustainable, and quirky material, popping up on everything from ottomans to flooring, and of course, wine corks. My friend is going with a bit of a vino theme at her wedding this Summer, and decided to repurpose wine corks as a cork board and use it to pin place cards onto at the event. This clever memo board would look equally cute in the kitchen or bar in your home.

Though I prefer to use cloth tote bags instead of plastic grocery bags, it always feels hypocritical to then fill those fabric totes with plastic produce bags. But until recently, the free plastic baggies were the only way to protect your fruit and keep your veggies from getting battered.
Today, however, I was excited to discover these Eco Bags Reuseable Produce Bags.

The question "paper or plastic?" is nearly passé by now, since so many of us are using reusable shopping bags. One company that I've been particularly impressed with is Denver, CO-based RuMe, which was launched on Earth Day last year.

I just stumbled on these Birkin Bag Cocktail Napkins ($52) at Supermarket, and I think they're hilariously chic. They're certainly a lot more affordable than the real thing, and you don't have to endure a four-year waiting list at Hermès just to own them. I usually opt for paper cocktail napkins just for the sake of ease.

While we're fretting about what to do with our plastic grocery bags, I thought I'd throw out another recycling option for all of the crafty types out there. Etsy Labs has a great tutorial on how to fuse plastic bags into new "fabrics" that can be fashioned into tote bags (left), purses, and anything else you dream up.
What you'll make out of your fused bags is up to you — and better left to another post.

I try to always carry my groceries in cloth bags, but despite my best efforts, I still end up with plastic shopping bags from time to time. There are plenty of ways to reuse them — as trash can liners and dog-poo holders, for instance — but even then, the bags still end up in landfills, where they can take months to hundreds of years to break down.
The best option, of course, is not using plastic bags in the first place, but if you can't cut them out entirely, you should definitely recycle them.

I used to give my dad a hard time about being a cheapskate because he washed and reused his Ziploc bags. But as I've become more eco-minded, I realize how wasteful it is to toss a baggie after just one use. Here are some tips on how to get more mileage out of your plastic sandwich and freezer bags.

Bean bag chairs are a staple of rec rooms and college dorms. They're comfy, versatile, and even available in sports motifs to match your favorite team (please, just don't). But rarely has anyone accused a bean bag chair — particularly one shaped like a football — of being chic.
