Found It! Maria Sharapova's Snap-Worthy Pillow

Last night I was watching Gossip Girl re-runs online, and naturally was forced to watch short commercials during the show. God forbid I be torn from Chace Crawford for 24 seconds! Luckily, I was kind of entertained by a Maria Sharapova Canon Powershot commercial; not because I'm a fan, but because her dog, Dolce, becomes a bit of a camera whore when passersby fall in love with the pooch. While I was tuned in, I also noticed that the accent pillow on Sharapova's couch looked quite familiar. Where had I seen it? To find out, and to see the commercial video, read more.

It's the Thomas Paul Seed in Dove Linen Pillow ($100)! The pillow is also available in corn, kiwi, scarlet, and java, but I'd always loved this soft blue hue so it struck a chord instantly.

Ask Casa: Colorful Pillows For My Bed

Hi Casa,
I'm looking for some cute accent pillow recommendations for my bed. My bedding is the Marimekko Himmeli Set from Crate & Barrel, which is white and light gray. My rug is the Franklin Rug from Pottery Barn. My bed is the Valencia Sleigh Bed from Pottery Barn. My curtains are the Bicolor Silk Window Panels in pewter/steel from West Elm. My rug has a maroon and hunter green palette, but I don't care about matching too much. I'd prefer something not too expensive. Do you have any suggestions for me?

Thanks for thinking of me! Since your bedding is subtle and gray, you have a lot to work with in terms of color. It also has a nice, tree-photo negative pattern, so it would be smart to pick up on the graphic or botanical quality of that. While I'm not one for matchy-matchy either, I think going with bold red, green, or gray accent pillows is a smart choice. I know you said you want colorful pillows, but I also think choosing a bold pattern with more reserved colors (for example, the CB2 Velvet Spray Pillow ($24) in black and gray) would still create a successful focal point on your bed.

I've rounded up several pillow options that I think would work for you. If the prices don't work for you, I'd suggest looking for them at other retailers. For example, Thomas Paul pillows are often available at Bluefly at significantly reduced prices.

Here are a few with a red palette. Personally, I'm rooting for the Thomas Paul Seed Pillow in Scarlet ($100) with the Maharam Mikado Pink Pillow ($150) or the Lekker Seabloom Pillow ($195). Maybe you can find them at lower prices elsewhere?

Steal of the Day: Mibo Homewares Selsey Pillow

If you liked the Mibo flowered table lamps, you might be happy to hear that the textile company's Selsey Pillow ($55, reduced from $92) of the same print is on sale at 2Jane. Or maybe the bold floral print was too much for you on a lampshade, but you would consider using it in your favorite reading nook. I'd love to liven up my own interiors with its vibrant, graphic print, and I'm actually digging how the red, blue, and gray color choices all look together. If I had my druthers, I'd buy all three.

Love It or Hate It? CB2 Bollywood Pillow

On one hand, the CB2 Bollywood Pillow ($19.95) kind of cracks me up, and I like its monochromatic look. On the other hand, unless you happen to be a bona-fide film buff, I think it's kind of a strange thing to own, let alone display on your couch. What do you think?

Steal of the Day: Jonathan Adler Needlepoint Card Pillows

If playing cards only triggers thoughts of your gambling debt, or reminds you of your grandmother's (or mother's — like mine) bridge group that meets every Tuesday and Thursday, I'd have to say, sadly, they've been tainted. Why? Because, have you noticed how aesthetically pleasing the design of the classic card deck is? There's so much graphic goodness in the Queen of Hearts and Ace of Spades — and it should be appreciated at face value. Clearly, Jonathan Adler knows where it's at; the hip-ocity of his Queen and Ace Pillows ($115.50, reduced from $165) kick that image of mom and her gal pals at their round table out of my mind with blunt force. If only they matched my décor . . .

Get the Look: A Cashmere Mafia Bedroom, the Textiles

Zoe and Eric's Cashmere Mafia bedroom may have plenty of other slick furnishings, but it wouldn't be complete with out some contemporary textiles. Production Designer Stephen Hendrickson chose a modern, graphic, and earthy accent pillow in brown tones to bring interest to an armchair that's otherwise plain and simple.

Where Would You Decorate With This Sequin Lobster Pillow?

Z Gallerie says their Sequin Lobster Pillow ($39.95) "redefines rock lobster, which is what most people equate with scrumptious, edible crustacean." I have to agree, and say that I've never seen lobster look so glam. It'd be cheeky in a summer house in Maine, or perhaps a seafood restaurant. But I wouldn't serve it up in my own home.
