Casa Quickie: Save It For a Cloudy Day

If you're tempted to clean windows (and really, who isn't?), save the task for a cloudy day. Why? A sunny day may cause your window to streak. This is because your cleaning spray will often dry on the window before it can be wiped off.

Remember to clean the windows on both sides, using horizontal strokes on the outside and vertical on the inside. This way, if any streaks do remain, you'll know which side needs to be touched up.

New Trojan Empties Your Bank Accounts on the Sly

There's a new trojan virus on the block, and instead of infecting your computer with malware or copying your data, it's actually stealing your money. Over 3,000 people in the UK have already been emptied of nearly $1 million dollars to date from the Zeus3 trojan, and while this sounds like the perfect time to panic, the only "silver lining" for the rest of us is that the trojan has affected customers from just one online banking system . . . so far.

When I stumbled across this fine trio of old windows at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore last week, they had to be mine. $10 later I was cruising home with my new best friends in tow . . .

Clearly hanging these guys would require more than a nail or two so the proper hardware was a must. Opting for hooks and hinges that would allow the windows to be easily tilted/removed for cleaning was high on my list. More time consuming to install but ultimately worth the hassle.

Unlike other app-based phones on the market today, the Windows Phone 7 comes with customizable tiles on the front page, bringing things like your favorite contacts, music, and calendars to your home screen. The look is super clean and totally unlike any other phone I've seen.

Is This the Future? Details of Microsoft's Future Plans Leaked

Several internal Microsoft documents recently found their way online, leaking details of the company's future plans, and if they're legit, the "future" is fast approaching. A few highlights:

There may be a Windows Store. Similar to Apple's iTunes, Microsoft will open a store to developers. The store would handle upgrades, and both web and Windows apps, all of which would be regulated by Microsoft.
It's all about speed. Startup speeds, device connection speeds, and web connection speeds will be much faster. "Windows 8 PC's turn on fast, nearly instantly in some cases, and are ready to work without any long or unexpected delays," according to the documents.

Assisted Living: Where to Hang Window Treatments?

"My son's room has a huge window on one wall, with a half-moon window above it. Do I hang the drapes above the top of the curve, or in the small space between windows? The blinds will stay, and the drapes will only close at night. It's a lovely window, so I want to frame it in a way to give it maximum impact."

When was the last time you gave your windows a good scrub? Unless you've got a full service housekeeping staff, chances are you don't give your windows the love they deserve. Some experts recommend an extensive cleaning once a month. While that sounds idyllic, it also sounds a little aggressive. But perhaps I'd feel like I was walking on sunshine if I could actually see it a bit better through a sparkly bay window instead of a smudge-filled bird detractor.

Keeping up-to-date on all the latest gadget, website, and Internet scams and viruses can be a daunting task. And if you thought because you're a Mac-head that you're excluded from the fun, think again. The latest malware infestation to hit the tech world is aimed at iPad users.

Specifically, the malware is targeting iPad owners that use a Windows computer to update their iTunes software. Here's the details: victims of the virus receive an email marked "iPad Software Update" and are given a link that looks like a legit iTunes software download page. This, however is a fake page, and after being downloaded, opens up your machine to malicious hackers that can gain access to your computer at any time, and even get a hold of your personal info, keychains, passwords, and serial numbers.
