Of the three main characters on Lipstick Jungle, Brook Shields's character Wendy Healy is my favorite. A movie exec with two kids and a gorgeous husband, Wendy's bohemian and relaxed loft apartment is the perfect hideaway from her busy work life. Mixing traditional and modern elements, the loft is a great example of how to make a variety of disparate pieces work in a space.

There's something so nostalgic about wide-plank wood floors, and for good reason: Historically, wide-plank wood floors were found in colonists' homes in the 1600s. The wide planks were quicker and easier to plane and install, which explains their popularity. I'm a fan of wood floors, no matter their width.

In addition to the fabulous wardrobes and beautiful faces in the now-defunct or maybe not Lipstick Jungle, the interiors are also something to fawn over, as we've seen with Wendy Healy's relaxed interior style. But Healy isn't the only one with a keen eye for design. Nico Reilly, editor-in-chief of the hot fashion magazine Bonfire, has a high-rise office that's as slick and no-nonsense as she.

If you don't have time to whip up some homemade deodorizer for your home, I bet you have time to order a bottle on Etsy, right? These room and linen sprays ($6.95 for a 4.75-ounce bottle), from WendyLousNaturalBath, can be made in a number of different scents. I'd order a couple and find out what scent works best for your home.

The New York Times' Light and Space Where Fire Alarms Once Rang visits the Providence, Rhode Island home of artist couple Wendy Edwards and Jerry Mischak, which was originally built in 1931 as a firehouse. The couple, who were living in a mid-19th-century house on Brown University's campus and also renting two separate spaces for their studios, wanted to find a place where they could both live and work. When Mischak saw a sign for a new firehouse going up in East Providence, he stopped into the old headquarters, and spoke to the firemen about the digs.

Zinc Details is a modern furniture and home accessories store based in San Francisco, showcasing functional, durable, and affordable design. Joined by a passion for the modern furniture classics, after graduating from Berkeley in 1990, Vasilios Kiniris and Wendy Nishimura founded the store with the intention of selling not trendy modern pieces, but those with integrity and lasting value.
Nearly twenty years later, they have outgrown several shops, begun an extensive e-commerce site, and become the major Northern California distributor of KnollSpace home furnishings.

Design Milk is loving this Water Bowl Set ($350), designed by Michael Benzer, John P. Gilvey, Wendy Gilvey, and Jennifer Smith. But while the frosted-glass serving pieces have an elegant look, I don't think I'd want them in my home.
