Stainless steel has magical deodorizing/odor neutralizing power that can wipe the pungent scents from things like garlic, onion, and fish away from your skin. There isn't a clear chemical explanation for this, but it's been hypothesized that sulfurous compounds are somehow catalyzed by the steel. So, some clever entrepreneur came up with a stainless steel "soap" product, essentially a block of metal in soap shape, to rid your skin of whatever stink ails you.

The concept of "designer toilet paper" is a kind of akin to a Swarovski-encrusted nose hair trimmer; you just can't make nasal weed-wacking look glamorous. So, I would never venture to kid myself by buying Black Toilet Paper ($12). But, I do think if you were going to go all out hosting a Halloween party, it might then be acceptable.

A certified French film fanatic, I did a double take when I saw the Harry Allen Bestow Vase/Candle Holder ($95), because it conjures up Jean Cocteau's La Belle et La Bête, particularly the scene with the arms that outstretch from the wall, holding a candelabra. This vase/ candle holder is from the Harry Allen Reality series, which consists of objects whose form is "sampled" from existing objects. This particular product is a highly detailed cast of the designer's own hands.

Since you guys like the idea of decorating with chalkboard paint so much, I have to share these great Uma Chalkboard Vases ($40) I just found. Available in three sizes (with chalk included!), the playful containers let you scribble messages or draw pictures on the sides. I could see myself using them in the guest room to offer welcome messages along with the fresh flowers I set out.
