I can hardly get past the spotlessness of Sugar_Substitute's kitchen long enough to admire the design. But I like the way the sophisticated, modern lines play off the sloped ceiling.

Tylermarcum - who, judging from the photo, appears to be a big fan of CB2 - made a bold choice here putting this baby-blue couch against a mustard-colored wall. But the results are truly beautiful and not the slightest bit off-putting. Also, I love the light fixture!

TeamSugar Challenge: Show Off Your Casa!

Inspired by last week's Casa Craving challenge to find great dorm room digs, TeamSugar is hosting her own contest centered on what comes after the dorm. If you've recently graduated from a dorm room to a high-style pad, it's your turn to show off you casa on Team! The winners of the best post-dorm digs will be featured next Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Here's how to play Team's Challenge:

Step 1: Upload a video of your favorite room(s) in your house or create a photo album with various pics of the interior of your house or create a widget with some images of items that you have in your apt, house, etc.

Step 2: Be sure to tag your video, photo album or widget with "Show Off Your Casa."

Step 3: Be sure to leave a comment in this post with a link to either your video, photo album or widget. Or you can cut and paste the embed code in your comment instead.

Team will select our top 2 winners for this challenge and announce the results on Tuesday, Aug. 21st!. And yes, of course there will be a prize!

Su Casa member Hvenbnd recently asked for your advice on wall colors. See how her painting quest has progressed since we last checked in with her.

I posted an earlier entry asking the community for help with picking paint colors. I just could not narrow it down! Finally I discovered Inspired Design. Diane really helped me choose colors that work with my vision, furniture, art and personality. Here is the kitchen in process! All paint is from Sherwin Williams.

Once you're subscribed, click New Post on the upper right-hand side and choose what type of post you want to create. If you have just one photo and some text, create a text post; if you have a bunch of photos you want to share, select "gallery." The Community Help Group has a great primer on how to create a text post, so check that out if you've never posted one before. Here's a rundown of the basic process:

Add a Title and the Body (content for your post). Don't forget to click the Check Spelling link and Upload an Image to make your post stand out!

Casa Interview: The Good Wife's Stephen Hendrickson and Beth Kushnick

As I've mentioned in the past, I'm a huge fan of the new CBS series The Good Wife. In particular, I adore Alicia Florrick's (Julianna Margulies) apartment. With classic styling and great use of color, it's definitely a look I'm currently coveting. Luckily, I recently had the opportunity to chat with the two people responsible for the look of that very apartment. The Good Wife's production designer, Stephen Hendrickson, and set decorator, Beth Kushnick, answered my questions about the look of Alicia's home.

CasaSugar: How did the production designer and set decorator define Alicia (as a starting-over mom, lawyer, etc.), and how did this play into their concept of her new apartment?

Hendrickson and Kushnick: We defined Alicia as a working mom who wanted to make a comforting life for her kids as they had to downsize from a large house in the suburbs to a much smaller apartment which she purchased and had renovated. We kept some furniture from the old house like the kids' beds and the dining room furniture. In addition the show creators wanted to keep Alicia's king size bed as a visual - that it was too big for her new bedroom and show that one side of it was now empty. We also created a maid's room in the back of the apartment for all of her husband's belongings.

CasaSugar: How did Alicia’s style as a North Shore mom change when she moved into Chicago proper?

Hendrickson and Kushnick: Her new apartment had a sophisticated color palette . . . Alicia's apartment also has more contemporary living room furnishings and an upgraded kitchen.

Desire/Acquire: Pretty Patterns at Differing Price Points

Shrewd online shopper and Su Casa member The City Girl recently discovered some very interesting similarities between some high-end Neiman Marcus products and some low-end Target products.

She writes, "I think that almost every company could have something in its collection to offer - if not in actual product, then perhaps with inspiration. It's just that various designers usually offer quite different, distinct looks - especially companies such as, say, Target or Neiman Marcus. So imagine my surprise when I discovered not one, but two parallels between the Neiman Marcus bed linens line, and the new(ish) Target upholstered furniture line! Take a look yourself!"

Does this pattern look familiar? That's because it's also used on this Smoke Target Settee ($549.99).

Next, The City Girl tracked down the Daybreak Bed Linens ($100-687.50) from Neiman Marcus. The pattern, woven in Portugal by Pinecone Hill, features a modern mix of birds, flowers, and stripes in shades of bluegrass and green tea.

However, if you'd like to see this pattern on a chair, you're in luck, because The City Girl found it at Target on the Canary Print Armless Chair ($299.99). I love this little chair!
