Love It or Hate It? Pottery Barn Twill Cube and Tuffet

Pottery Barn has caught onto the pouf trend and finally produced some of its own. Unfortunately, in a natural-colored cotton twill, the Twill Cube and Tuffet ($99) are as bare bones as can be. No pattern. No texture. Nothin'. What do you think? Do you like the simple seat or does it need more flair? Does the wallet-friendly price make you take another look?

Desire/Acquire: Pottery Barn's Edison Chandelier

I love the dangling, octopus-arms look of Pottery Barn's Edison Chandelier ($400). Crafted of iron with bronze-finished cord brackets, the chandelier was inspired by the beauty of industrial fixtures and the 20th-century architectural designs of Adolf Loos. It's actually not that badly priced, but luckily, you can find something very similar for even less money.

The Industrial Pendant Chandelier ($225) is a custom-made chandelier from Etsy seller ModernMilieu. It consists of 10 outlets hanging from six-foot-long cables, which can each be attached to the ceiling in any way you choose. It's a very close match to the Edison chandelier, don't you think?

Steal of the Day: Americana Cube

I love stars and stripes just as much as the next Yankee, especially around the Fourth of July. But, if I'm going to invest in patriotic furnishings to use year-round, I'd prefer to make a more subtle tribute.
The Pottery Barn Americana Cube ($499, reduced from $699) has all the right ingredients. The small trunk incorporates Old Glory imagery with muted distressed fabric stripes in dusty red and blue on its sides, and hand-stitched stars on its table surface. Nothing about it says barbecue, fireworks, or hot July day, but it certainly says "America."

Desire/Acquire: Fisherman Pendant Lamp

I love the industrial, retro look of this Modern Dose Fisherman Light ($235). Its silver-toned steel surface provides a great neutral palette that one could decorate around, or simply add to an already-established room's decor. And while it's rather reasonably priced, if I want to decorate with multiples of these (I can see three of them hanging in my kitchen), they do add up.

The Fisherman Ceiling Lamp ($69) is definitely a steal, and while its shape is more cylindrical than round, it's still a close match to the Modern Dose light. It has a tarnish-resistant chrome finish, and is hard-wired. Which one do you prefer? Or does this lamp leave you angling for another alternative?
