Casa Quickie: Wine Cork Place Card Holder

If you're anything like me, there are already a plethora of wine corks laying around your home this season. So, if you'll be hosting a holiday dinner party this week, why not put them to good use and turn them into place card holders? Use a standard dinner knife to slice a shallow slit into the length of a wine cork or the width (top) of a champagne cork. Then, write your guests' names on pieces of decorative paper or place cards, and slide them paper into the slot. Voilà! A festive, recycled place card holder that you can reuse at your next dinner party!

Casa Quickie: Flower Votive Display

I love this idea from Martha Stewart for making a floral display out of your votives. Rather than simply using your votives as lighting, you can use them as tabletop decorations by tying the stem of your favorite flower to each votive with a bit of raffia, some ribbon, or even a rubber band.
By placing the votive holder on top of a small, water-filled saucer, you'll keep the flowers fresh as long your party lasts. If you're having a dinner party, you can take this tabletop décor idea a step further by using a fabric marker to write the name of each guest onto the ribbon you use to tie each flower, using each votive holder as a place card as well. Or, if you use a thick rubber band, you can simply write each name with ballpoint pen. Talk about Summer style.

Source

Crave Worthy: Frédérique Morrel Tapestry Poufs

Frédérique Morrel Tapestry Poufs ($464- $1765) are "re-made" using vintage needlework tapestries, giving new life to meticulous works that would otherwise be overlooked. Each is one of a kind, and assembled according to theme, color scheme, or "pure serendipity." The poufs are available in four sizes, which can be used as arm rests, seats, ottomans, or coffee tables, and they fit both modern and traditional interiors. Frédérique Morrel's collection also includes tapestries refashioned into pillows, footstools, trays, lunch boxes (!), notebooks, pencil cases, bags, lamps, key chains, place mats, and business card holders. Who knew tapestries could be so fresh?
