This weekend at Macy's you can save 20 to 50 percent off of home goods, including bed and bath, kitchen, dining, and home décor items. Plus, clearance items are an additional 25 percent off. I'm loving this Murray Feiss Blue Agave Lamp ($220, reduuced from $450).

Cruising through downtown San Francisco, I stopped to look at this Tommy Hilfiger window display at Macy's. I like the cohesive statement the yellow chandelier, mantel, and chairs makes. It looks sunny in a cozy way, but it also seems peculiar to me to see Adirondack chairs used indoors.

A sofa often comprises the largest decorating cost in a living or sitting room. Since it's also a focal point of the room and a high-traffic seating area, it's important not to just snatch up the cheapest thing you can find. Luckily, there are good-looking, even striking, sofas out there that won't cost you an arm and a leg, and that won't give you a backache either.

I don't know if you've seen Macy's Style & Co. bedding linens before, but they have a modern style with clean lines and an easy mix-and-match arrangement that I really adore. As its name suggests, the Trees Bedding Collection ($29.99-99.99) is inspired by nature, with a bold tree print, but its mix of pattern and texture — strands and waves of amethyst, an origami pillow sham, painterly speckles, and negative mirrored imagery — will give any bed a really unique look.

I'll be the first to admit that Macy's has a lot of sales, some of them just so-so. But when the retailer says "big home sale," it isn't joking around. Not only are these sale items reduced 20 to 50 percent, but there are a lot of them, and you get free shipping on orders of $99 or more.

Macy's is currently holding both a Home Sale and their Semi-Annual Furniture Sale, offering great savings and values on bed, bath, kitchen, dining, and furniture items. I must admit that I've gotten pretty lucky in the past with Macy's sales, so I highly suggest you check it out if you're looking for anything from a serving dish to a sectional. Oh, and pick up something for me while you're at it!

When it comes to rainy Friday nights, there's nothing better than curling up on the sofa with your shoes off. But when it comes to sofas, there's always a good, better, and a best. This go-round, I'm going to take a look at the trifecta of mid-century sofas, tufted, buttoned, clean-lined, and ready to make an appearance in a living room near you.

Envision the love child of the Marimekko Himmeli Linens and Jonathan Adler Hollywood Duvet sporting the pale yellow and gray trend on Spring Break, and you're looking at the Style & Co. Lotus Blossom Bedding ($24-$79). I myself own a set of Style & Co.

If you've yet to cash in on the faux bois trend, now's the time. A bona fide bargain shopper, I couldn't bring myself to pay full price for Martha Stewart's Faux Bois collection for Macy's, but now that some items are nearly 40 percent off, I'll gladly pony up. I'm loving the Martha Stewart Collection Faux Bois Towels ($5.99-$13.99), in particular.

Both design duchess Kate Spade and homemaker extraordinaire Martha Stewart have been playing a blue note in their homeware collections for large retailers. Kate's Gwinnett Lane Turquoise Dinnerware is for sale at Bed Bath & Beyond, and Martha's Lorraine Stencil Dinnerware (along with a slew of turquoise items) is available at Macy's. Which do you prefer?
