I showcase a lot of inspiring Before and Afters here on Casa, but I must say I've rarely been more impressed with one than with what you're about to see. I came across Flickr user HottHoller's home remodeling project, and I was blown away. For the most part, her house had great bones, but the décor was seriously out of date, and in places, terribly kitschy.

I love the look of ivy climbing on the exterior of a house. But if your walls are weakly mortared, there's potential for the ivy to damage them. Do you have ivy growing on your house?

A pied-à-terre is a place of lodging for occasional or secondary use. In French, the term literally means "a foot on the ground." It was named such because basic crash pads used by traveling execs during the week were traditionally on the ground level of apartment buildings.

I love my home! It may not be my dream house, but it's the right home for me right now. It has many flaws but I always enjoy contemplating my next decorating moves, even if it means "making lemonade."

I'm not a big believer in haunted houses myself, but I remember one old Victorian that would make all sorts of frightening bumps and clatters in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. The house always seemed to spook my dog a little, too.
