When you're no longer stuck on stick-on bows and curling ribbon doesn't make the cut, spend a few bucks on the DSharp Letterpress Buckle With Ribbon ($7.50). This large oval belt, comprised of letterpress red striped printed paper, will replace your fussy bows in a cinch. The buckle arrives with ribbon, and that's all you'll need to dress your gifts: Just slide through and pull.

My grandparents are big bookworms, and I have so many special memories of reading with them while we snuggled up on a sofa together.
They're still avid readers, and while I can't always be there to share a book with them, I know that they appreciate a new book in the holiday season. I try to always pick out something special for them, and a book and a blanket is a perfect combination.

After all the hard shopping and the days my family and I spend fending off vicious consumers at the mall, my sister unfailingly returns or exchanges 75 percent of her Christmas gifts every year. Even when she likes her gifts, she takes pleasure in returning a sweater and getting two for the same price at the post-Christmas sales. I guess she's a smart shopper.

If you've been reading our holiday gift guides and are still stumped over what to buy for your friends and family, or you're just getting down to the wire, a gift card is the next best thing. I don't mean a prepaid Visa gift card or an envelope with a few bucks slipped in (although I wouldn't complain about that). Go for a gift card to one of the sweetest shops around.

Everyone's got one good friend who simply loves to throw parties. For many of my friends, that person is me! Aside from delicious grub, some upbeat dancin' tunes, and a well-stocked bar, I've found that every party needs festive lighting, linens, coasters, versatile furniture and trays, and an eye-catching invite to reel the crowds in.

Last year, many of you told me that you were making or buying handmade gifts. Many of you also took the handmade pledge. So, if you're in the market for a one-of-a-kind gift for a special someone in your circle of friends, I thought I'd round up some of the best handmade gifts I've come across, using, of course, my favorite purveyor of everything DIY and handmade, Etsy.
