For those of us who appreciate a nice wood fire, we either have to buy wood already split, or get out an ax and do the job ourselves. Growing up, I got my fair share of chopping wood as a household chore, but I actually really enjoyed the task. Do you chop it at your home?

I love the eclectic look of the folksy, layered patterns in this living room. It looks so cozy and welcoming, but still appears pulled together, thanks to the cohesive color palette. Layering this many patterns can be intimidating, however, because it's sometimes hard to know how to pick and choose the best patterns for a space.

A console table in your foyer can make a great landing strip for your keys, purse, and other daily essentials. But it can also just be pretty and fill an otherwise dead space. I love this foyer by interior designer Anne Coyle.

Unless it is painted, I usually find wood paneling too dark and rustic for my taste, and sometimes it just looks too dated. But in Fall and Winter, it has a cozy effect that I enjoy, especially if there is a fire roaring nearby. Do you have wood paneling?

I'm trying to decide where these Peter Harvey-designed Tongue-in-Cheek chairs ($5,900) would be most appropriate. A wacky dentist office, perhaps? Available in some candy-bright colors, these chairs are built out of UV-resistant GRP (glass-reinforced plastic).

At my house, I can see a lot of trees, but my main view is of the San Francisco skyline. Sometimes I miss the more idyllic views that I grew up with in a rural community. Do you have a nature view at your home?

At my house, I often pile coffee table books, magazines, and decorative objects on my coffee table. Of course, I try to keep it tidy through the use of trays, but sometimes the number of things on my coffee table gets a little overwhelming. While I admire the minimalist look, it's just not my style.

Since my husband and I inherited a gorgeous table from his mother, we always use placemats to keep hot foods or condensation-laden glasses away from its wood surface. With other tables, I haven't been as careful, and even think that a few water stains added to the charm of the older, imperfect tables. Still, for our current table, I like to take precaution.

Community member Deemurph started to collect vintage furniture about eight months ago. She's now so hooked on bringing beautiful old pieces into her home that she created a group called Vintage Delight, as a place for you all to share your vintage finds. This amazing raspberry velvet tufted armchair is just one of several bygone chairs she owns.
