I never thought I'd want to live in an old boxcar, until I saw this cheerful cafe built into a converted train on Treehugger. Located in Deptford, London, the pop-up shop is selling sustainably farmed coffee while the nearby train station, originally built in 1836, is being renovated.
I'm surprised how sunny and spacious the space is.

I stopped by Flora Grubb the other morning to grab some delicious Ritual coffee and to check out the amazing garden store for inspiration and ideas. Before picking up a gorgeous spear-like Sansaveria, I wandered around the gardens, taking in all of the beautiful plants. I was particularly taken with the way Flora Grubb had reimagined this classic car.

For proof that we can find inspiration anywhere, take a look at the fading paint colors on these rusted old automobiles. I love the way the brick reddish-brown looks against the baby blue. How could you use these ideas in a room?

The former New Orleans home of Anne Rice, author of Interview With the Vampire and the Vampire Chronicles series, is on the market for $3.7 million. The 1850s home has a transitional style, with both Greek Revival and Italianate elements. It boasts double galleries with Corinthian and Ionic columns, massive antique beveled mirrors in the double parlors, antique landscape murals in the dining room, gorgeous millwork, and exquisite plated ceilings.

Although the mortgage crisis may be making real estate exchanges difficult for a lot of people these days, luxury condos are actually coming quite easily to some citizens — fish. That's right, fish. Retired New York City subway cars are being shoved off of a barge off the coast of Delaware, according to The New York Times.

This weekend marks the Summer Solstice, and do you know what that means? Heat! If it hasn't already gotten steamy in your hood, your time will come.

I love design that solves minute daily frustrations, like wiping off the condensation of my mirror after every morning shower. But a pet peeve of mine has always been that car wipers don't wipe off the entire surface of the window. So while I think the Suck UK Wiper Mirror (inquire for price) is clever, I haven't been won over by it.

When January temperatures dip below zero, sometimes it's hard to get your vehicle started, especially if you keep it outside. Keeping your car in a garage overnight is often your best bet for ensuring it will start easily in the morning. Do you keep your car in a garage at your home?

I admit, I am a huge Scrabble nerd. Recently, when my car was broken into, the item that I lamented missing the most was my travel Scrabble set. Since so many people are fans of the word game (word nerds unite!), I thought I'd offer you some other ways to incorporate the game into your home, besides the game itself.
