With a palette that is mostly black and white, the accents of color in this Stockholm home really pop. Beyond that, Dutch decorator André Schievink courageously mixed minimalism with kitsch, antiques with Ikea, in a way that makes each piece stand out. I usually don't like products categorized as "wall decor" because I feel like they're equivalent to the mass-produced artwork you can buy at major inexpensive retail stores. They are by no means original, and your friends might recognize them from aisle #9, where they bought toilet paper in bulk
That said, these Black & White Pattern Plaques ($89) from Ballard Design are changing my mind—or at the very least proving themselves to be the exception to my rule. In this case, I like "wall decor," and I like them enough to share.
Found It! Trompe-l'œil Grandfather Clock
I spotted this photo in the portfolio of photographer Joanna Henderson and I'm absolutely in love with it. Not only is the light beautiful, but the space couldn't be any more understatedly elegant. The trompe-l'œil grandfather clock is simply great for that white wall, and it pairs perfectly with those bentwood chairs.
