When the editors of Pottery Barn's Inside & Out blog challenged me to style some of their new outdoor accessories at home, I knew my barren yard would be put to the test. I'd been aching to create an outdoor space where I could sip cocktails while catching up with friends, but my commitment-phobe tendencies always ruled out traditional dining sets or gigantic loungers. Small, dispersed trees in my yard made stringing lights nearly impossible. I started with four leather Mexican patio chairs and an unflattering floodlight, but with the help of some accessories and simple styling tricks, I managed to turn my outdoor fantasy into a reality. Keep reading for tips on how to tackle this in just a day!

I bought a faux fur comforter from Pottery Barn about eight years ago — oh I am such a trendsetter! — and it's so gosh darn cozy. Even though in the wintertime, I tend to walk around my apartment wearing the thing like a robe and vehemently refuse to take it off, I am tempted to buy an additional faux fur throw for my living room. The smaller size seems more convenient, practical, and well, less embarrassing. That said, I'm not sure whether I want to shell out $99 for Pottery Barn's current Faux-Fur Throw. So I've been looking for a more affordable alternative, and whadya know? I found a much cheaper option! Want to see it?
There was a time when the term "white sale" referred to discounts on bed linens, which were only available in white in the late 1800s. Now it refers to practically anything for the bedroom or bathroom — music to my ears! Pottery Barn has kicked off its White Sale, offering up to 25 percent off bedroom and bath essentials including towels, linens, bedroom furniture, and bathroom accessories and fixtures for a limited time. Pretty sweet, huh?
I adore the Caldwell Bed ($650-$950), which is beautifully crafted and totally timeless. It would look fabulous with the classic Grand Embroidered Duvet and Sham ($20-$100). What do you have your eye on in the sale? Tell me by commenting below!

Pottery Barn's extended Black Friday sale comes to a close today, so you've got a few more hours to save 20 percent off all ornaments, garlands, and wreaths. I adore this Silver and Gold Mercury Ball Ornament ($8, from $10) with a hand-etched snowflake pattern. And I'm also sure that this Live Eucalyptus and Berry Wreath ($79, from $99) smells like heaven. Pick up just a few items and you'll be on the fast track to a sophisticated holiday! Here are some of my favorites from the sale:
Did you see Oprah's Favorite Things episode? One of my favorite things about watching it has to be the audience reactions — seeing them scream, cry, and hug the random strangers next to them just warms my heart. This year, O featured her most fantastical favorites yet, and while some of them were geared toward gadget geeks, others had a pretty stylish touch. The Pottery Barn Columbus Day Sale has set sail and select items from dining room furniture to rugs to accessories have been reduced up to 50 percent off in stores and online. I'd hang this Calhoun Glass Pendant ($119, reduced from $149) in every room in my home if I could. And I'm also getting a kick out of this Cake Mold Pendant ($63, reduced from $79). I've got my eye on plenty of other goodies from the sale too, from distressed wooden oars to velvet quilted shams to shag rugs. Check out my picks below!
Pottery Barn is celebrating the Labor Day holiday this weekend the best way it knows how . . . with a sale! Through Sept. 6, indoor and outdoor furniture, bedding, rugs, window treatments, lighting, accessories, and bath and tabletop items will be reduced up to 75 percent off in stores and online. In other words, if there's anything home-related you've been on the hunt for, now is the time to buy!
I'm particularly loving the Ceramic Garden Stool ($79, reduced from $159). Available in cherry red, natural, and ink blue, it's a versatile accent piece that can be used as a side table or a seat, indoors or out. Here are a few other things I'm eyeing from the sale:
CasaSugar Community member MissNatalie recently asked the Assisted Living group for help finding a more affordable version of the Pottery Barn Mason Headboard ($700). She writes, "Looking for a beautiful, dark, rustic headboard or frame that will contrast intensely with my white ruffled comforter set. I would buy this but I'm trying to save! Anybody out there with a helping hand, promo code, or idea? Thanks!"
