While there are few people I know that would actually turn down a warm wrap (especially on a chilly Winter night), the idea of a wipes warmer elicited a strong response from readers who were afraid it would spoil a baby. Will a towel warmer do the same?
In my opinion, a towel warmer is a luxury well worth the expense (around $200, plus utilities). Nothing beats hopping out of a cold shower and wrapping yourself in toasty terrycloth! Or does it? I just stumbled across this photo of a ladder-like coat rack styled by prop stylist Jon Maer and instantly thought: towel warmer! How lovely would it be to be able to heat up your Winter coats, hats, mittens, and other gear that are all dusted with snow? Pretty lovely, I'm guessing. I might just have to run down to my nearest Bed Bath & Beyond and test one out! My only worry is that outerwear with metal zippers or buttons might overheat on the coat warmer. Have you ever tried this?
British designer Cath Kidston opens up her colorful London home in Lonny magazine's latest issue, giving us a feeling for why she's named the "Queen of Florals." But the talented designer that she is, she knows her boundaries and when to say no to powerful patterns.
In an effort to turn her bathroom into a retreat, she doused the walls in serene white paint. Then, she went the extra mile to disguise the unseemly facilities that give the lavatory its name. She started by hiding the sink in a cupboard with doors that can be shut when not in use. Then, she cleverly designed a slipper-style chair around the toilet to camouflage it. All that's left is a gorgeous roll-top tub and a luxurious towel warmer . . . and who ever would complain about those?
I've had some mornings recently where I've shivered my way through the morning shower, and I admit that a warm, fluffy towel would've been a great way to subdue the shiver factor. Still, I am not a gadget girl. I like to keep it simple and can't really see myself using this in my home. But Thermique's freestanding heated glass towel warmer ($1000 to $1500, available in January) is a pretty crave worthy bathroom item.
So, if money weren't an issue, would you buy it?
