About a year ago, I bought a pair of linen Fred Shand throw pillows from Anthropologie with persimmon zigzag stripes and appliqué strips of navy and white patterned silk. I absolutely love them, and the best part is the silver lining: rows of metallic sequins bordering the orange stripes. I'm not a flashy girl, but that little bit of shine sure does make me smile.

The brand's Chunky Tassel Throw ($69), a mainstay from last season, was released this year in gold metallic. It's a cozy, textural layer woven with metallic thread and a marvelous match to much-loved pillows!

I bought a faux fur comforter from Pottery Barn about eight years ago — oh I am such a trendsetter! — and it's so gosh darn cozy. Even though in the wintertime, I tend to walk around my apartment wearing the thing like a robe and vehemently refuse to take it off, I am tempted to buy an additional faux fur throw for my living room. The smaller size seems more convenient, practical, and well, less embarrassing. That said, I'm not sure whether I want to shell out $99 for Pottery Barn's current Faux-Fur Throw. So I've been looking for a more affordable alternative, and whadya know? I found a much cheaper option! Want to see it?

When it comes to fur in my house, I prefer to see it on a very alive Fluffy or Fido — not on a fur throw, rug, or pillow. Luckily, there are plenty of pretty faux fur choices.

Throw a faux fur throw on a bed at a ski cabin for a luxe touch, or dress up your sofa with a few faux fur pillows. They definitely add a great touch to a holiday-decorated home. One of my favorite throws is the Inmod Faux Fox Fur Throw ($370) — it's unbelievably luxe looking. There are plenty of other warm, fuzzy options though. See a few of my favorites below.

Odd as it may be — the Snuggie is a pop culture phenomenon. I admit I haven't put one on or gone on a strangely intriguing Snuggie pub crawl, so I can't really slight the fuzzy blue blanket/throw/robe. Maybe it lives up to the hype, but I have to believe there are more fashionable ways to go about it.

Enter Alicia Adams and her deliciously divine Alicia Adams Alpaca Blankets ($385). Made out of 100 percent alpaca, her über soft throws are available in dreamy earth-toned hues that are sure to complement most any room. If the personalized wrap is what you're after, the Alicia Adams Alpaca Cape ($440) will do the trick. It will have guests scoffing, "Snuggie shmuggie . . . Pass the alpaca!" Warning: If you plan on drooling, dipping salsa, or heading out to the bars, consider this — it's dry clean only!

Ruffles have been gracing more than the edges of red carpet gowns of late, adding a touch of fancy to the home on pillows, bedding, and shower curtains. For instance, this Martha Stewart Ruffle Throw ($40) would bring a subtle element of femininity to even the most dapper sofa.
