Juliette Lewis arrived yesterday at Le Mirage in Paris, France, for the Range Rover Evoque launch, dressed in a mandala-inspired dress. Mandala, which is a Sanskrit word for circle, is an ancient design, but Lewis's dress updates the shape with bright, poppy colors. Similarly, I looked for home decorating pieces that riffed on traditional patterns and textiles. Two of my favorites are the Kartell Mademoiselle Chair in Missoni Fabric ($950) and the Anthropologie Northern Lights Rug ($1100). Click on each product to shop the rest of the look!
The Sanskrit word "mandala" loosely translates to mean "circle." The shape represents wholeness and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself. I love that this high-concept, organic pattern is being used in this very high design-minded wallpaper. The Graham and Brown wallpaper ($60/ for a double roll) is available in black/silver, black/white, and crimson. Whatever color you choose, this pattern would look stunning in a variety of home-design schemes. I'm especially loving the idea of placing open bookshelves in front of this wallpaper; the pattern would really pop wherever it peeked out.
