Whether you have a Winter baby on the way or are looking to revamp your little one's current space, we love the cozy, comfortable vibe of a log-cabin-inspired nursery. When shopping for the theme, be on the lookout for rustic, woodsy pieces, plaids, tartans, and fair isle prints. Woodland animals like owls, deer, and moose are super popular in kids' decor right now, so accent the room with some furry friends!
Love It or Hate It? Log Cabin Style
On this week's episode of Life Unexpected, Cate, Lux, and Baze take a road trip to find Cate's father. Her father, Gordon, lives in a log cabin style home, decked with Navajo rugs, Arts and Crafts furniture, and lots of wood elements. I've stayed in a log cabin home like this one for a weekend, and it definitely had a cozy, woodsy appeal. But year-round, it wouldn't be my pick. How about you?

Coveted Crib: A Rustic Summer Cabin
Anyone longing for a lake cabin? If you weren't before, you may be now. This rustic Summer cabin, located on the shores of Lake Sebago in Maine, was designed and built by Pill-Maharam Architects. Mixing modern and traditional design elements, the log cabin's exterior features a trellis and porch that promote outdoor living in the Summer months. Inside, a contemporary space blends modern sensibilities with rustic-wood-filled interiors. I love the open floor plan and the prominent skylights, as well as the sculptural use of logs.

Coveted Crib: An Eco-Chic Island Home
The Posts Standing House, which was built on Gambier Island off the Coast of British Columbia, takes the concept of the log cabin and infuses it with style and beauty. With Japanese timberframing influences apparent in its design, as well as the use of local materials, this is one eco-chic residence. To see its stunning interior, check out the slideshow. Source
