From beach cover-ups to evening rompers, I can't get enough of J. Crew's new Summer collection. The pattern, palettes, materials, and accents are all right up my alley and I'd love to extend the style into my interiors. Check out a few fabulous furnishings that will help you get the look of J. Crew's designs in your home!
Inspired Style: Leather Meets Longer Hemline
The longer-hemline trend is staying put for now, but if demure isn't your thing, follow Kate Bosworth's lead. The actress offers a new way to rock the trend by pairing a cropped leather tank with her knee-length black skirt. All you need to re-create the look is a black leather top — tee, tank, or cropped, as long as it's leather — and some killer heels. While your skirt will be saying lady, your upper half will be screaming badass! Click to shop the look.
Inspired: Drew Barrymore's California Orange
One of my perennial faves, Drew Barrymore, arrived at the Cover Girl 50th Anniversary Celebration last night in a bright orange gown. While the silhouette of the dress is somewhat questionable, the color is absolutely vibrant, and the actress looks happy and glowing in her dress. Perhaps it's the Winter dreariness, but orange is captivating me right now. Add some brightness to your home by installing the hue in the form of a Kartell Fl/y light ($300). Or, use it as a side table, stool, or bedside stand with the versatile Cube Accent Table ($90). To shop the rest of the look, just click on each image!
Inspired: Julianne Moore's Vibrant Fall Colors
Julianne Moore made an appearance yesterday at the Lancia Cafe during the fifth Rome International Film Festival, decked out in a chestnut-colored skirt that perfectly matched her hair color. She paired the outfit with a deep pink blouse that added a pop to the chestnut. Inspired by these colors, I looked for some home decor products that used the same color scheme. Two of my favorites are the Amy Butler Lacework Wallpaper in Sunset ($80 per double roll) and the Topo #2 Rug in Orange ($1,000). To shop the rest of the look, just click on each image!
Inspired: Janelle Monáe's Archandroid Black and White
Yesterday, Janelle Monáe performed as part of the Voodoo Music Experience 2010 at City Park in New Orleans, LA. The singer's debut album The Archandroid is one of my favorites of 2010. Janelle Monáe is also known for her black-and-white uniform, which often consists of a tuxedo and saddle shoes. In an interview with BellaSugar, she explained, "As I’ve grown up, I started to extract myself from color. Black and white always makes me feel calm, and I feel more in control. I like to be in a focused, clear-minded state, especially when I’m working. I just like to allow the colors to come out and be my own personality."
Inspired by Janelle's elegant, monochromatic look, I found items that featured a similar tailored look and this same color palette. Two of my favorites are the PH 50 Pendant Lamp ($850) and the Fringe "J" Monogram Kim Candle ($15). Just click on each item to shop the rest of the look!
Inspired: Patterns and Baubles at Doha Tribeca Film Festival
Last night, Sherine Morad Ahmed from Bibliotheca Alexandrina mixed up patterns and baubles at the Opening Night Gala during the 2010 Doha Tribeca Film Festival. Inspired by her bold use of pattern and shape, I decided to put together a sitting area that echoed the spirit of her outfit. This is definitely a bold look, and one that takes a certain tolerance for pattern (which I apparently have in spades). Two of my favorites from this look are the Sofa With Bridal Rug ($1,600) from Wisteria and the Modo Three-Sided Chandelier ($4,000) from Design Within Reach. Inspired: Parfait Pastels à la Patisserie
I fell in love with this photograph ($149 and up) from Vogue of a model stepping out with her chien in Paris for a treat at the famed tea salon, Cador Pàtisserie. From her elaborately-coiffed poodle to her chic, white, linen day dress to the pastel turquoise, pinks, and yellows in the bakery storefront, there is so much grace and femininity in the photo. I'm dreaming of translating it into a chic dressing and sitting room of my own, where I could sneak away to get dolled up in equally elegant ensembles or sit down with a cup of tea and a good book.
To decorate my patisserie-inspired getaway, I'd begin with the Adrienne Landau Isabella Rabbit-Fur Throw ($1,295), which reminds me of the frou-frou poodle. A delicate teacup is also a must have, so I'd pick up the Marchesa by Lenox Spring Lark Tea Cup ($49). A candy dish like the Ikea Yngaren Bowl ($6) to hold delicious treats would also be essential. And, for some reading, I'd pick up The Odyssey ($20), with an elegantly embossed cover. Click the rest of the product images to shop this look!
Inspired: Prada's Bold and Bright Stripes
Prada's Spring 2011 collection at Milan Fashion Week bled bright colors like cobalt blue, lime green, sunny yellow, and kelly green. My favorite look was this sleeveless, knee-length dress with traffic cone orange, hot pink, and black stripes paired with a Cheshire Cat-esque fur stole in pink and green. The combination of bold, bright stripes is fearless, fun, and eye-catching.
I'd love to have a room in my home with equally arresting stripes. I'm thinking white walls and floors with a no-holds-barred mix of brightly striped accessories and upholstered furniture and some statement-making, modern artwork on the walls. To create my Prada-inspired room, I'd start with the World Market Amazon Striped Toss Pillow ($15), the Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec Striped Magis Chair ($850), and the World Market Rangoli Multicolor Stripe Lantern ($25). Inspired: Crimson Mexican Cool
I'm in love with everything about this photo from New Zealand-based fashion magazine NO. The combination of rich crimson and cranberry reds, delicate lace tights, worn lace-up leather boots, and shiny Mexican tin crosses and mirrors seems straight out of a B-movie Western. In particular, I think it's the balance of femininity and rusticity that intrigues me.
I'd love to have a kitchen or sitting room in my home that feels like this, so I picked out a few of my favorite décor finds to re-create the look. With a Southwestern style and ravishing reds, this Pair of Star Blocks ($49) is a must have, and the Round Hammered Vase ($149) channels the tin wall décor. Meanwhile, the graceful, organic shape of the Sol Y Luna Armless Lounge Chair ($825) mimics the model's pose. Shop the rest of the look by clicking on the product images!

Inspired: Kerry Washington's Bling
Yesterday, at Variety's second annual Power Of Women Luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel, actress Kerry Washington rocked black and silver jewelry and accents. I loved the chic, edgy-yet-sophisticated pieces she wore, and decided to see if they'd translate to the world of home decorating. Crate and Barrel's Starlette Pendant ($350) is an exact replica of Kerry's cuff bracelet, except this one's a piece you can decorate your ceiling with. The Plush Living Athena Pillow ($64) is the perfect cushion for Kerry to complement her sartorial choice. To shop the rest of the look, click on each image.
