Agyness Deyn Sunset Song Movie Role

Agyness Deyn will play the heroine in a film adaptation of Sunset Song, a 1930s novel about a woman running a family farm in the face of growing economic pressure.

Deyn's role as Chris Guthrie, the movie's female protagonist, is her first lead in a major motion picture. Terence Davies will direct the film and Peter Mullan has been cast as Deyn's costar. Filming will start later this year.

"When I read the script I fell completely in love with the character and the story," Deyn said. "I can't wait to get started and just hope that I can do Chris Guthrie justice!"

Deyn has starred in a number of short films and played Aphrodite in the 2010 movie Clash of the Titans. This Spring she landed a role in a British production of The Leisure Society. Take a look at all her roles — onscreen and off — in the gallery.

Instagram IRL: Impossible Project's Color Shade PX680 Film

You love your Instagram pics, but there's nothing like an old-school Polaroid to add an analog touch to your photography.

You love your Instagram pics, but there's nothing like an old-school Polaroid to add an analog touch to your photography. If you were lucky enough to snap up a Polaroid 600 camera when they were cheap (now prices are well above $100), you can put it to good use with the latest offering from the Impossible Project. Called Color Shade PX680, this film produces amazing colors when used properly.

You should know by now that the old saying "shake it like a Polaroid picture" is a myth. In fact, this film should be shielded from light for at least four minutes after ejected, and left to develop on its own without the aid of shaking. It's a sensitive kind of film, but when developed (and it could keep changing for days after development) it produces fantastically retro images like the ones you see above. Each pack of eight shots will cost you $22, but is a fun buy for photo aficionados.

Get the Look of the Set Design From The Kids Are All Right

One of my favorite films of the past year, The Kids Are All Right, is up for an Academy Award for best picture, and I couldn't agree with the recommendation more. The film's beautifully nuanced portrayal of a modern family had me cheering, and each of the leading actors created a beautifully rounded character. The interiors featured in the home are wonderful examples of chic family living. Let's take a look!

Billy Elliot Is a Wonder of Wallpapers

This week I watched an old favorite film, Billy Elliot, and couldn't help but notice that both Billy's and his ballet instructor's homes brim with wallpapers. Every room in the Elliot house, in fact, is wallpapered, and in some cases, there are two wallpapers per room! The film is set in 1984 in a fictional town in North East England, but the wallpapers aren't all your traditional pink English roses: the kitchen is covered in a retro avocado fern pattern and a brown, yellow, and gray patchwork, while the hallway features an electric green/yellow and black floral. Plus, the trims of the room are painted to match the papers!

If you remember the film, Billy lives with his father and brother, both miners on strike, and his deteriorating grandmother. It's counterintuitive to see so much wallpaper in a house full of males since, as stylist Emily Henderson pointed out, "...wallpaper is inherently decorative, and decorating is inherently feminine." But in this case, the wallpaper is a pervasive reminder of Billy's late mother, who is clearly missed, and so she is both literally and figuratively the backdrop to the film. Much applause to the set decorator!

Check out all of the wallpapers in the film below. Do you think you could handle so much wallpaper in your home?

New Tron: Legacy Clip Gets Down to the Heart of Things

Just this week we learned that Tron: Legacy's visuals and action sequences are as awesome as expected thanks to an extended preview, but in this new clip from the film, we get to witness the heart-wrenching moment that Sam and Kevin Flynn meet after 25 years. It's no surprise that I'm totally drawn to the tech, gadgets, gizmos, and flashing lights inside the world of Tron, I'm excited to see if this movie will have all of its bases covered, including drama.

Sneak Peek! Interiors From Twelve

Pictures of Twelve by Nick McDonell With Chace Crawford

My old friend Nick McDonell wrote the novel Twelve — which debuts as an adapted film today starring Chace Crawford — when we were both still in high school. A story written by a 17-year-old about affluent NYC private school kids involved in drugs, sex, and violence, it received lots of attention from the hype machine and turned out to be a bestseller. It's a page-turner and it resonated with me at that age and as a fellow prep school student, so I'll admit, I've read it several times! Nevertheless, I was excited to see the trailer . . . but not only to relive the old tale. With wealthy Upper East Siders as characters, the film also showcases gorgeous interiors, which of course is the silver lining! If you watch Gossip Girl, you know what I mean. Come along and take a sneak peek of the interiors!

The new film The Kids Are All Right, out in limited release today, looks intriguing; Annette Bening and Julianne Moore play a lesbian couple with Mark Ruffalo as their sperm donor. While I probably won't rush to the theater to see it, I am loving looking through photos of the film's sets. The interiors are classic, calm, sophisticated, and homey. Better yet, the look is completely attainable. It actually reminds me a lot of the house I grew up in. Want to learn how to get the look?
